I have nothing better to do than design graphics for Cantr! I am a Photoshop goddess! (Or I like to think so. ;))

All hail. *Bows*

Anyways, I don't agree with many of the points made today.

Getting masses and masses of players to join is useless. Those destined to play long termedly and not quit or leave will be destined to do so, no matter what the front page looks like. People will not be disuaded nor persuaded to join by the front page. (perhaps leave the ad's on cantr in the log in page and off the front one) They're not gonna like it for it's lack of graphic and lack of quick pace, they're gonna not like it. (This holds true for many of my friends who I forced them to try, and word of mouth is yet the best way) If they're gonna like the rp-society sim text based, then that's that. (which fortunately as held one of my recruits to cantr). It's the content-not the falsifying and later disappointing ad of graphics in cantr.

The logo idea will though- give our player's eyes something to see I guess, but it doesn't really have an essential role. Check the records after putting a logo up, I doubt they'll be an increase, and if so, due to other circumstances.

A lot of people who I have tried to convince to give the game a chance has simply dismissed it with "A game that is so ugly can't possibly be any fun". And they do have a point. I don't know why I decided to give Cantr a chance in the first place, but I have skipped a lot of other Internet games simply because I didn't like the first impression.

When you convince someone to try, they'll get an account. Once they get in game, that's when they notice how slow and boring, and graphically unstimulating it is. Yes, the front page needs a face lift, but it probably won't work charms.

8/9 people I got to join, quit, due to the reason it was either, too slow, too boring[graphically unstimulating], too confusing...fortunately 1 who does enjoy what this game has to offer, a fine rp and sim situation, she remains active. All a good looking front page is going to do for people is get them to play the game. But the huge negative is, you're giving them the false impression that...this game has some beautiful graphics and plain out lie. It's false advertising, and it's disgusting.

Maybe then... redesign the site? Give the layout a background, and tada, you have a better first impresion without giving the false idea that cantr is -graphical- uber duper cool =) (it is uber duper super cool, but that's because of the gameplay, not the graphs).

Isn't that a lot of.......................................work?

:?

And wouldn't it take a hell off load time? Cantr is slow enough.

Cantr uses css, so only changing the background attribute would do the job for most pages.

You're right about that it would take long for loading. I just wanted to give some ideas. Just make the site nicer. That doesn't have to mean that the game is better. Same for making the layout even more boring: it wouldn't change the game itself.

I'm being stubborn.

I love the green layout. It's a comforting green layout with little gradients. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I don't think it is false advertisement...
Having a picture on the starting page doesn't give any promises about the game...it is just a nice picture, nothing more.

I think there could be a way to make Cantr still have the trademark green without it being boring. I personally love the way Cantr is just the way it is. :)
