Cantr II on Wikipedia

Cantr II has been in a long battle with trying to keep an English Wikipedia article since at least 2006. I need other people to help with getting Wikipedia to accept the article.

We need to convince Wikipedia that Cantr II is notable and has information about it from reliable sources. The article also must not look like an advertisement.

Cantr II was deleted because it was similar to the article that was deleted in 2006, and because it didn't address the problems that were identified during the 2006 deletion discussion. Specifically, there is no indication that Cantr II satisfies WP:WEB.

The only way around this is to have an outside website review Cantr. To make that happen, we'll need to start asking around for reviews, and then be prepared to take whatever lumps we get.

LAst time, did we use all those sites where you can vote for cantr from your account page? There's like twenty ...And that was one of the criteria last time around, reliable sources, though are pretty well established websites.

I don't necessarily think that we need an outside website to look at it I just think we need to delete everything about gameplay(interface, scenario, gameplay-but not language), leave the stuff about Jos, and only have a quiick blurb about it being text based mmorpg..


I think the critical evalutation should be removed, too. So Keep: Intro blurb, language section under playing, Community structure, and the references and external links. I'm pretty sure that'll bring us closer to acceptance, since it takes away all mention of the gameplay that wikipedia wants us to stay away from to satisfy their criteria. it all sounds ad-y to me.

Actually, not even all of the language section, just "Cantr has a large team of translators, who have currently translated much of the game into 18 different languages. Current translations are: Dutch, English, Spanish, Esperanto[4], French, German, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Latin, Finnish, Lojban, Swedish, Italian, and Turkish.

A player can choose to create a character of any of the listed languages except Arabic, Russian, Chinese, and Latin (these require further translation first)" and "the interface for that character will be in the chosen language"

I think we should mention games that were inspired by Cantr. There's been a lot, though except for FTO, none have gotten off the ground yet (and that's gone already).

They aren't really. We have plenty of game list references; what we need is other things.
I really think the main thing is making Cantr look notable and getting sources, not taking away information.

I hate to say this, but this might be a dead end. We are a not for profit game, and are notable for the fact of our LOTE work (Languages Other Than English) but I've seen people fight for Wiki rights before and never seen anyone win.

On one hand I want it, just for the occasional traffic, on the other hand good luck to anyone who wants to fight the tide.

Cantr's article managed to stay up for a long time last time, and we gained players from it, so it's worth a try. I really think Cantr is notable; it's one of the first if not the first Esperanto rpg from what I've seen on the internet.

Anyway, well, don't know how it will come to Cantr, but OEDILF simply won by GAINING notoriety. We had interviews in newspapers and radio programs all over the world. And we supplied that info in the wikipedia article.
