The code doesn't allow reading information that the owner of the account has set private, so in that way it's secure. (Others had already tried to "exploit" it yesterday.)

Recently they changed it so that accounts can no longer time out, so if someone wants to get back to the game, it will no longer matter if you lose interest because you can pick it up again later on.
