What I know is that in the past when Josh linked me to a streaming site for another series, it said that it's not viewable in my country. Nothing is completely free, they rely on money from advertisements so they get no profit if the watchers are foreign and the products are not sold in those countries. Americans can go ahead and watch legally but for the rest of us there is mininova.org.

Actually, they determine how much the advertiser pays by how popular the program is or time slot. In the case of internet shows, it is probably determined by the show's popularity and how many people stream it.

Legend of the Seeker episode 13, in my opinion possibly the best episode so far.

*SPOILERS.*

The beginning is rather cliché, a couple of thieves entering a crypt, it's all creepy, of course something bad is going to happen to them. Then it cuts to an ancient Seeker, Kieran, dying a thousand years ago, together with his Confessor. Quite cheesy but a visually powerful scene. This is just a story read by Richard from the book that this guy with mustache gave him earlier. They're going to put the box of Orden into the crypt. They find Kieran's coffin but it turns out to be empty.

This is where it gets interesting. They hear a woman crying and Richard gets separated from the others, thinks he saw Kahlan but it's in fact the ghost of Vivian, the Confessor from 1000 years back. She leads them to a room that has a plain coffin inside. There is a skeleton with the skull separated from the rest of the body that is bound with shrouds that have runes on them. A wizard's ritual has been formed to keep Kieran's soul from reaching the underworld. Zedd undoes the spell and of course the old Seeker's spirit possesses Richard. The others fail to notice what had happened. They go put the skeleton in the fine coffin in the other room but when Zedd exits the tomb, Richard/Kieran hits him in the head and locks him out.

Now he's alone with Kahlan. It's awfully good acting, you don't really think that it's Richard there even though it's his body since he's acting so differently. Kahlan tries to remain calm but it's obvious that she is frightened. This guy used to be in love with a Confessor and he has been stuck in a tomb for a thousand years, now that he is finally physical again, would it matter to him who he's going to bone? Besides Kahlan couldn't fight Kieran in any case because it would also harm Richard. So when he charges at her, it looks like she's about to run blindly into a wall, it looked like a very natural reaction. He binds her hands and says that he's going to summon Vivian's spirit to possess her body.

Meanwhile the wizard Amfortas from a thousand years back possesses the dead body of the grave robber from the first scene and comes to explain things to Zedd. That Kieran and Vivian consummated their love and that made Kieran become Confessed, so that he could only think of protecting her and that was endangering his task. Amfortas told Vivian to drink poison so that Kieran would be released from her. Even though in the books I don't think a Confessor's spell was broken by death, they're sure using the mechanic well here in the series. After her death Kieran could only feel rage and he started killing innocents, so that Amfortas had to kill him with the Sword of Truth. If Zedd can't convince the spirit to leave, he would have to kill Richard.

Now Kahlan gets possessed by Vivian and Kieran starts making out with her, but it takes forever to take her dress off so that buys Zedd some time. But by the time he gets through the door, the Seeker and Confessor are very close to doing it on top of the coffin. Instead of threatening Richard (Kieran), Zedd turns the sword on Kahlan (Vivian) and says that a Confessor can be replaced but the Seeker cannot. Again this wouldn't have worked in the book, but in here it makes sense. Kieran is forced to leave Richard's body and trust that Zedd will let Vivian follow him to the underworld. Amfortas had not allowed Kieran to enter the underworld in fear that he would bother other spirits there, but Zedd is different. So the ghosts get their happily ever after and everything returns to normal. But they can't leave the Box of Orden in such a dangerous place, so Zedd must go alone to hide it. It's pretty amazing that he's ready to leave Richard and Kahlan alone after what happened, but they have been given an example of what it would lead into if they went too far.

An error: Zedd nicked Kahlan's throat with the sword but there is no scar in the ending scene. I guess he may have healed it but for continuity it would've been better to display a scab.

==============================================

Episode 14 is very powerful and advances the plot a great deal. Previous episodes have been lacking in continuity but this one really makes me interested in seeing what comes next.

Chase has been kept in a D'Haran labor camp but when he hears that the Seeker is nearby, he escapes. He's chased by a quad but Richard and Kahlan help him kill them, and they also get horses and armor from them. They go to Hartland, the guys disguised as soldiers and Kahlan is playing some sort of a loose woman being offered to the Viceroy. When they get past the boundary and to Richard's home town, they see Anna there (first seen in episode 12), who by the way looks a lot like Kahlan in her earlier slutty attire. People must do the devotion to Lord Rahl. Having something that's from the books is refreshing after having so much material that was invented by the script writers. Gars attack the village but D'Haran soldiers shoot one down and the villagers shout praise to Lord Rahl.
They kidnap Michael (Richard's brother) to find out what's going on. Then they're going to do something to the Viceroy but he has gone to see Anna and she drugs him and makes a copy of his key. Then they go to his office and find a book that lists people that have been sent to a grove. They go check out what's there and see some guy being fed to gars. It's a very powerful scene even though the animation looks a bit choppy. The gars are bound to land by long chains and as they fly down, the chain comes rattling down even though you can't see the gar itself until it strikes.

Michael offers to reveal the truth to the people during the devotion and the others let him go. Anna says she will distract the Viceroy so that Michael could be alone to lead the devotion, but she fails and ends up stabbing the Viceroy, who has her arrested. When Michael sees the Viceroy coming, he chickens out and leads devotion in a normal fashion. The others find out that Anna has been taken to the grove and they go rescue her. The cool thing about Anna is that she is natural, she cries when she's scared or upset about her brother being fed to the gars, and she clings to Richard and it's overall very touching. She's giving him something that Kahlan currently cannot provide. Kahlan doesn't seem jealous or anything, she hints that maybe Richard could come back to Anna when his task is done. But Richard says his heart belongs to someone else (her).

Michael finds out that the gate at the boundary is the only thing keeping the gap from closing and now they're going to blow it up to keep the Seeker from getting back to Midlands (and D'Hara). So Michael goes to warn the others, and they stage an ambush on the Viceroy and his soldiers. Anna is shooting at them with a crossbow while the others engage in close combat. The Viceroy advances Anna after she misses him with a bolt, but Kahlan Confesses him just before he has time to attack her. However Michael gets stabbed in the stomach and he dies, after saying that he's going to tell his father that Richard was a hero. I seem to remember in the books Michael remained a bastard all the way, so it's cool that the TV series allows him to grow up and die like a man.

Kahlan tells the Viceroy to obey Anna's orders once she's gone and to blow up the gate after Richard, Kahlan and Chase have gone to Midlands. The last thing is to send a message to Lord Rahl through the journey book saying the Seeker is dead.

=============================================

Episode 16 has Jennsen, who was only introduced later in the book series. When I read the plot summary and learned she was going to be in the episode, I anticipated it might go terribly wrong since it differs so much from the books, but it was a good episode again. Jennsen is awfully cute, I sort of imagined her as rather plain looking when I read the books.

Zedd hides the third box of Orden inside a field of magic that burns all who try to enter it. Denna is sent to capture Jennsen, who is the only one who could bypass the shield. She cannot use her Mord'Sith power on Jennsen since she's immune to all magic, but can use it on her mother. Here Richard and Jennsen have the same mother, I doubt they'll end up having the same father since it wouldn't make much sense.

After Jennsen has gotten the box, Richard and the others manage to rescue her but the mother is still held prisoner. Denna sends a message, to bring her the box or the mother will die. Richard goes to negotiate, I found the scene funny since they are so alert and tense. They agree that Denna would help them steal the other two boxes and would be given the third one after that. But Denna kills Richard and Jennsen's mother, saying she can revive her with the kiss of life if she gets the third box soon enough.

Jennsen goes to steal the other two boxes and she can just walk straight through the magical precautions but it's still exciting. But when it's time to do the trade, Denna says that she wants all three boxes. Richard ends up combining them, instantly unleashing the power (very different from the books where the deal involved a very complex ritual and opening the wrong box would consume the user or destroy the world). The power means he can control everyone (except Jennsen and her kind). He orders Denna to revive his mother but it doesn't work, she had lied earlier. Then he orders Kahlan to kill Denna slowly and she starts beating her up. Jennsen disconnects the boxes, breaking the spell. Denna begs Richard to kill her since what Rahl is going to do to her will be worse than death, but Richard refuses and tells her it's best to start running.
