Well...hate to break this to you, but it is already legal in the US. I dont think I quite understand your poll. I mean...to begin with, its confusing but that statement really did it.
Please clarify what you mean, and then I will vote.

Here is what I mean. Should it be legal for a person over the age of 21 to purchase alchohol in the United States. Yes, it already is legal, something that is legal can be made illegal, laws are designed to change.

I think it should be legal.

I live in a wonderful country where one can buy any alcoholic stuff when 18year old and buy beer from 16 year young. We have not much youth alcoholic problems or youth deliquency it is a fact that young people get alcohol anyway I think. Just as it's practically impossible as a parent to prohibit your child trying a few cigarettes(the only way would be to lock them up in your house for ever).

I think that the 21year rule in the US is not good. I'm 19, when I'll be 21 my youth(and thus my days of alcohol) will be over. If I'd live in the States and were not allowed to drink, I'd probably have nothing to do in the evenings and thus my friends and I would be rather bored and probably save 100 euros a week or so by not buying alcohol.

Sure it should be legal, along with pot as well. If you want to kill yourself, go ahead. I don't smoke pot for fear that I might strip down and run down the street, but I do drink from time to time (18 years old here. I signed up for the selctive service, that should mean I can drink as much as I God damn want. I might not live til 21) and when I drink I apparently don't have that fear of striping down and runnign the street, probably because taking off my belt requires too much dexterity. Personally I don't feel that pot or drinking is as bad as it is made out to be. Sure there are health risks, but there are health risks to exercising as well if you take it to an extreme. But exercise is not addicting or even practiced much anymore so I don't see it being banned any time soon.

Pie - before you start bashing marijuana, I suggest you check out a book called Reefer Madness. I can't seem to recall who it's by, but just go look for it. It's about the American Black market, and there's a lovely essay in there about how propogandists dehumanized marijuana and the people who use it.

I won't vote in these polls anymore, though. Waste o' my time.

If there really was a way of stopping stupid teenagers from buying alcohol and using it... If there was some maturity test on bottle caps so that idiots couldn't get them open. I just hate this "party generation" of piss-headed teens who get much worse when they're drunk. Even when there are limits in stores, they don't ask ID from every young looking person, I've NEVER been asked ID when buying alcohol and I imagine myself looking rather childish. Even if ID was asked in every case and even if fake IDs and ones loaned from a big sister or something didn't go through, people would still be getting alcohol from their older friends, or random fetchers, their parents and stuff. Rant rant rant... I really hate drunks. Why can't people drink intelligently like civilized people?

Make it all legal - it makes political sense - then all the voters would be too trashed to care about what's going on
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.

I'm civillized but my ways of drinking would not be what one would call intelligent.

It's rather a strange situation, probably due to me being a student. There are two periods of three months each year where i go out five nights a week and down probably way too much alchohol than healthy for me. But in a time like now with exams or on holidays(except, euhm, some holidays) I drink practically nothing.

So am I addicted, I'm sure not. Do I drink 60+ beers + a lot of other stuff every week for six months a year, yeah. It's my life, it's my liver, why would i care that i get problems when I get to sixty at least I have lived.(this by no way insinuates that people who don't drink can't have fun; I know a few friends who go out a lot too, have lots of fun too and avoid drinking alcohol as much as possible; but still overall I am sure that I am in the 'so-called' party generation and I'm happy with it. I've tons of friends, I know lots of girls, I do things I enjoy doing all the time. :)

So alcohol legal: yes. But punishment for alcohol abuse: high --> especially when causing problems to others.

Oh and Swymir, alcohol has in fact made me strip down my clothes and run almost naked down the street. It is good to have friends in such an occasion, they got me dressed again.

Yes, but did you take them off because you thought bugs were crawling all over you?
