I collect horses - real ones as well as the little fake ones.

LOL I'm sure that they think of it differently - more like I am their personal human servant - I mean really, I prepare their meals, clean up their mess, act as their personal fitness trainer, give them baths, make sure they get a regular "pedicure", clip their hair so they look sleek and pretty, chauffer them around to fancy events (shows and whatnot).

Hmm, who has the better bargain here.

They most definitely do! I just had to sell my horse about five months ago, and currently cannot have the real thing anymore :( But I'm sure she's better off and that her new owners have much more time for her than I would've with my school right now. Ah well, maybe someday I can do what I want and have stables full of them... or at least one stable... lol *sigh*

I was fortunate enough to be able to rent a house on about 2 acres - a good size for Southern Cali, LOL. There is no way I could afford to have all of my kids at a boarding stable otherwise. Not with monthly rates around $220-280 per horse. Meep!

It costs me roughly $80/month per horse in feed and I just have to do a little extra work.

I'm down from six to four now, and have one colt for sale, and an older gelding I am trying to find a new home for. With my stud colt getting a bit older I want to clear up some space to add a mare or two.

Ohh I'll take the gelding! If only I had a place close to keep him at lol...

I had to pay around $160-180 a month at the university's stables while I was getting my undergrad degree for my horse... on a part time student salary (5.50 an hour by the end), so that was like half my paycheck... I decided I couldn't afford it, money or timewise when I moved for my graduate degree... and I know it'd cost more here... I can't imagine paying $220 or more..

I liked the discussion about horses better. Even though I'm afraid of horses up close  it had more substance, lets get back to that.

Ahh. Acknowledgement. Makes sense. I suppose. Nevertheless, his post made no sense whatsoever...

My stud colt learned that airsoft guns really won't eat him today. Really really, and lots of carrots on top.

I got to see my horse I sold a couple of months ago this weekend :) I was glad to see her. I have a funny story about her though, now that Mafia reminds me!

Before I sold her, my sis' ex-bf (he was her bf at the time) wanted to see her, so I let him and his friend come with my and my friend to see her. I got her out and she was actually being really calm and laid back; a lot of times when I'd get her out, she'd be high spirited and liked to dance around a bit. He was sooo scared of her; he wouldn't even go near her while I had her out of her stall, even though she was standing calmly and almost boredly.

Anyhoo, I decided to let her loose in the indoor arena for a few minutes to run around and stretch out before we left. His friend needed to go to the restroom and the shortest path was climbing over the arena fence and cutting across it. She was, as I said, very calm and really just walking around looking for a place to roll, when most times she'd be running around like nobody's business, so I told him to cut across the arena...

He barely got over the fence when all of a sudden she neighed and started running at him, full gallop. It scared the crap out of him and he catapaulted back over the fence faster than anything I'd ever seen. I think he must've just flown back over the fence. I'm not sure he even actually touched the fence to help himself back over. He wouldn't go near the it again and walked around the long way to go to the restroom. It was so funny. Guess I forgot that she doesn't like guys much usually.
