All I have to say is Jeff "Mantas" Dunn from Venom has been my kickboxing instructor and Ju Jitsu Sensei since I was 5 and has deeply influcenced my taste in music. (I only found out about Venom recently actually, when he was in Japan for the reunion tour, missing our monday night session).

Indie, indie and hip-hop ("Rap") The most exiting two Genres (And, in my opinion, the best) At the moment. The rest of the music scene is pretty much dead 'cept for indie and rap artists... (Unless you belive the nme which claimed that this summer was the summer of Ska... which was a complete lie... shame that  )

Racetyme wrote: but frankly death metal is not really music, it is just screaming, it's a pretty fine line to walk, but plenty of bands do it. As weird as it is I am a hard rock/metal guy, and yet I hate death metal more than any other kind of music, tied with rap.

You need to listen to old-school Death Metal like Death,Morbid Angel, and Obituary before you say something like that.
It's true that many bands nowadays are very, very,VERY bad at death metal, and new metal? 'Sounds kinda like Death metal, what's up with that??

It really pisses me off when people say they hate an entire genre of music.

How can you just write off tens of thousands (well, more than that) of artists just like that?

Foolish and not thought out.

Atually it is thought out. It is my opinion, and as such I can say with a definite yes, I hate all death metal and rap.

I have a feeling you haven't listened to all that much of either.

Yet my statement is still true, when I hear some death metal or rap I don't hate I will tell you about it.

Yes, that's right. Hate the music because of the genre, not the quality. Way to go.

It's the style. If it's the same general style for each song of a genre, and a particular person doesn't like that general style, then they wouldn't like that genre? Eh?

I can tell you now.

Without a shread of doubt

That I hate all panpipe music

no

I haven't heard much of it

that's because it makes my brain haemorrage internally

(although I agree - sweeping off whole music genres is very blinkered)

Narrowminded, if that's a word.

You know, to block and close whole areas off just because...you do, in which case you're usually missing out on something. Sometimes, not. I don't know what is the case with the genre in mention, since I haven't the slightest inclination of what that may or may not be about.
