Minimum Boat Crew, One
This is less of a suggestion, and more of a "What do you guys think?" thread. This idea is completly and utterly implementable at the moment (Assuming it's not buggish...)
So, I propose that all boats require a minimum of one person on board, for them to be able to move at all. This is to prevent a ship flying off into space, with a ghost crew. SURE, it's possible, but a ship needs to be maintained to be of any use. With no one on board, the boat will stop. Simple.
What do you guys think? Yay, or Nay?

Disagree - but the boats shouldn't necessarily travel on the same route
Let their travel be directed by the winds, tides (if any) and the currents
In fact I'd love to see crewed ships battling against storms or using prevailing trade winds to travel from continent to continent
In RL the shortest travel time is not the shortest distance . We already have different travel times on land due to type of road and weight carried, lets see something similar at sea .

Opps I'm in that dept - lets scrap this idea

I found a boat recently from the 700's, it was kind of neat, but I don't know where it was from.
You say Nay but what you post should be kinda supportive, you cant dock to a moving ship.

I am for the idea so... Yay!

I like the idea of boats having minimum crew - but it should be a minimum to control direction - if the person/people die - and the boat's got dead bodies, or not enough people - it should still move - I guess in whatever direction it was, but it shouldn't be possible to change that direction... Boats just sitting still in the water - doesn't seem right to me...

Personally, I would agree with this. However, it's presently not possible.
And I can't state if the world is round or not (Why? Because even -I- don't know, believe it or not.) - but what I am trying to avoid here are those few channels where a boat can sail and sail and sail, to NEVER hit land, then you WON'T EVER be able to dock on that boat (Unless: A) It flies around to the other side of the map, or: B) It falls off the edge of the map...?, or: C) It hits the edge of the map to stop.)
The point is, since you can't dock on a boat while it's moving, you'd have to wait until it hits land. Is THAT realistic? Although, I don't understand why some of you argue that "A boat sitting still isn't realistic". Sure, there are winds and tides to move the boat, but do those exist in Cantr? No.
[Edit]: To Tally, I see 6 Yays and 4 Nays. One of the Yay's is mine, by the way

True. There are ways. But chances are, you just won't have those lucky circumstances. The boats that you can dock on, are usually faster than the boats you can dock with. So if you're not in the right position before hand, you're screwed, really.
