The Hydra game

Postby Tiamo » Fri Nov 21, 2008 2:49 pm

As you all probably know the Hydra is the mythical multi-headed dragon from Greek mythology. But this monster has a problem: every head has a will of its own, so when communicating the heads will probably say all kinds of different things, often even contradicting each other. Now which head is really speaking on behalf of the Hydra?

This game is based on the above problem.

Each player can submit 1 text each turn, hoping it will be a popular one. At the same time the player must cast 3 different votes on texts from the prior turn. The first vote is worth 3 points, the second vote is worth 1 point and the third vote is worth -1 point. Votes must all be cast on different texts, and may not be cast on a text the player submitted himself.
All submitted texts will be published anonymously in random order.

The text collecting the highest number of points in the next round is the winner of the round.

For starters i have collected 9 example-texts that can be voted on for the first turn:

1) "Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Tiamo."

2) "Yeah, right!"

3) "I object against violence without constructive purpose."

4) "Blarg."

5) "Whoever you vote for ... The government wins."

6) "I've personally always considered Cantr to be the best true role-playing experience on a computer."

7) "*sighs* Oh Dudel."

8 ) "I spent up all my minutes again, today. But you can't expect me not to with so many exciting things going on."

9) "All other texts are stuppid!"

[Oh, it doesn't say anywhere that it should be in PM. Good thing I didn't post here.]

I received enough entries to start with the first turn. More entries would be better though.

Deadline is set 24 hours from now.

The Hydra says: "Blarg." and "*sighs* Oh Dudel."

The first vote was a tie. Both were quotes from the forum. As could be expected text #9 collected the majority of negative votes.
I intend to have fixed deadlines of 1 week, so anyone can get used to it. How do you all feel about that?
The heads are a little bit less talkative this time. Anyone (existing and new players alike) can participate by PMing me the votes&quotes.

1) "Did i say you could speak with your mouth open?"

2) "However your pocket is way too small for all of us, and most of us die from suffocation, brain trauma, or joo rape."

3) "I have every fetish in the universe, prove me wrong!"

4) "You see, if everything were related to American politics then we obvisously would all be dead. Therefor, vote this text to be your winner!"

5) "Sir, yes you over there, get out of my sight!"

6) "I wanna smurf those smurfs into smurf!"

(( I want to play, but I slightly don't understand. Could be due to the being 4am thing. Also, laughing my butt off to see a couple familiar things there))

You can play by PMing me votes for the best (3 points), the second best (1 point) and the worst (-1 point) of the (six) texts above, and providing a text of your own for the next turn, so a new list of texts can be published.

You win the round if your text collects the most votes.

The SekoETC head says: "However your pocket is way too small for all of us, and most of us die from suffocation, brain trauma, or joo rape."

In the first real round SekoETC's text is the winner by nearly unanimous vote. Smurfs and politics seem less popular. This time the hydra tries to say some pretty weird things, if anything at all.

1) "Hey you... You with the hair!"
2) "I'm hungry... Hey! You there, you look tasty. Let's lunch together."
3) "You see a man in his twenties drop some gas."
4) "I dunno, lol ‾\_(°▪0)_/‾"
5) "Sex is great. You'll come around."
6) " "
7) "..but, if she never shows them to anyone, who's to know that she is in fact a real woman?"

Ah, you two have nothing. For it was my wonderful habits which cause the quote to be formed in the first place. I win!

Hey, are we supposed to send you a quote from the forum or something like that?
