Are you saying that you in RL have been abused because of the way your chars act? If so, that's a bunch of sad people you know... but the CRB would be if you allowed that to influence your chars' behaviour.

I would consider it a CRB. I don't know if it could be prosecuted by PD very easily, but it's definitely wrong, stupid and effing petty to equate a character with the player. Many people play murderers in this game, but I don't think they all go around murdering real people all day long.

You just have tough luck getting accused by some idiots, that has never happened to me even though I've revealed most of my characters. Anyone who has understood the CRB would not request a person to change their character's personality just because they happen to find out someone is played by a friend. In fact if I found out someone my character was being evil to was played by someone I knew then it would be easier to be mean to them ingame because then we could analyze the things OOC and I could let them know it's nothing personal. And if it was being nice to someone then if a character tends to be nice to people then why should they make an exception on someone whose player you happen to find out? Just concentrate on the bloody characters and their personalities and forget about the people behind them. You might try to be a bit more aligned towards the ones played by strangers to avoid forming clicks, but only up to a point. I mean if you are in a town with mostly mute people played by strangers and then one social person played by someone you know OOC, it would only be natural to bond with that person.

Anyway who ever those bitches are, you should just slap them in the face and tell them to stop being so retarded. If they can't trust people to play their characters unaffected by OOC knowledge then they should be the ones to quit. Don't take it so personally.

Like you never know with people (this is a real life example then, not Cantr-related) people might say that you can tell them anything but that doesn't necessarily mean they are ready to hear it. This one person started suspecting I'm a lesbian so I told them I'm bi-curious. They were saying it's ok, they get along with all kinds of people. Then later our hands happened to touch and she couldn't get that thing out of her mind, she thought I had been coming onto her. Even though it was totally unintentional. So I told her she must be having some trouble with her sexuality and after that she never spoke to me again. That was totally ridiculous.

You're just asking an honest question. You never said who the people were, and you said it happened a couple of times. If the person cannot get over their childishness and think that this is being vindictive and selfish, then it is no fault of yours. Like Voltenion said, ignore them and go on. Apparently they never cared about your friendship anyway if they can't separate you from your character.

Being selfish and vidictive would be saying, "Hey! This person, Blahblah, is being a jerk! Don't be friends with them because they'll stab you in the heart if you do something they don't like with your character!"

Quite true.

You got to seperate the two worlds. Game world is totally different from the real world and carrying game issues to RL is totally wrong. This was one of the main reasons that I quitted playing tabletop rpg games (AD&D and such). And you are perfectly right. I think people should not know each others' chars as it tends to become like this situation. Anyway, if you are absolutely sure that you have in no way wronged that person in RL, don't even think about this subject anymore and worry about it.

Sunni,

You're completely in the right. People taking things out on you for how your characters act could be construed as a CRB under the premise that they are using OOC manipulation to influence how your characters act, and I don't agree that it would be difficult for the PD to enforce. Save chat logs and emails of abusive interactions as evidence.

The lesson here for everyone, of course, is to not reveal your characters!

I've always personally been against doing so, and I've seen things like this happen time and time again. I know it's hard, especially when a person is supposed to be a friend, but it NEVER turns out well. Trust me, I did it, and I've seen it happen to others. People are on here foremost to play Cantr, and the friendships that may develop as a result will almost always collapse in the face of Cantr issues.
