Hey im having a bit of trouble here...
I feel like i have too many characters, and want to unsubscribe to get rid of them...but there is only one that i cant seem to part with.
Im playing less and less because of the anxiety that im having over playing 15 characters, but i seriously have no clue what to do.
Is it possible to get a staff member to kill off my characters except one?
I dont want to have to stop playing cantr all together, but its stressing me out!
Thanks.

Re: Trying to decide...
My understanding of the situation is that staff used to kill off individual characters on request but people abused the ability so they stopped.
Maybe they'd make an exception, I don't know, but you should be able to kill off some by starving them surely? That might even have the bonus of easing away slowly so you don't lose more characters than you needed to to enjoy the game fully again.

You can starve some and put few in deep sleep by holding lots of food on those chars. One day you may want to play them again. You can just sleep in a room, until one day magic happens and wakes them up.

Re: Trying to decide...
My first go around I eventually hit the big x due to real life. But I was in the same position. I was getting overwhelmed with trying to keep my obligations in game. I had to many characters in caretaker type roles. I regret u subbing now. I could have shoved some of the responsibilities on some younger characters. So before u kill off your characters, take your time to think about it. As others have said, stash a few, u might wanna play again, in a safe place. When the time comes and u can spend more time in game, come back to them.

Re: Trying to decide...
the anxiety that im having over playing 15 characters
Early in my playing days, I found myself playing with quite a lot of anxiety as well. One character in particular was very anxiety-causing because of some decisions that were made by all the characters involved, including my own decisions. (These decisions made her an extremely controversial character, and led to her being alienated by all her former friends and lovers.) I decided to take control of my anxiety by killing that character off, using the loss of her friends and lovers as her justification. I used her own weapon on her repeatedly to kill her off, but in a private place where no one could challenge or stop her decision because no one knew it was happening.
It took a week so I had plenty of time to change my mind, but I didn't. I ended her game on my terms. My anxiety over the game pretty much stopped with that decision - because that decision helped remind me that ultimately, I (the player) am in control of this game when it comes to my characters. I may not be able to control everything that happens or their social situations, but I can control their decisions and ultimately, I have control over their life and death. (I know technically others can take control of that as well.)
Most importantly, it reminded me that when the game ceases to be fun, I can end part or all of it at any time. It was an important lesson, and one that led me to now being able to carry 15 characters without feeling any real anxiety over any of them. And that includes 4 town leaders.
Moral of the story: Once you (the player) take control over the cause(s) of your in-game anxiety and eliminating them should eliminate the anxiety for you.

I've never had 15 characters. I think it's far too many. Think I had ten at my peak and was wishing to get down to at most 8. Have two now and am quite happy.

Re: Trying to decide...
I only have two now. I remember in my early days ~1750, I had the full 15 and then due to server downtime and me forgetting it had come back, I lost them all. I had some minor grumbles for letting them die, but then I made another 15 and it took over my life! So yes, kill them off and be comfortable, this game is all about balance, but I guess it's part of the Cantr cycle that most people go though...

I keep my slots filled with sleepy workers. Sometimes they dont speak for years but they keep busy usually helping the town. Not the most exciting characters but i think they are needed. Then if I get bored and need more gameplay I already have a ready made character that can spring to life and be more active for a while.

Used to be I killed off characters that were boring. As of late, I take action and it works surprisingly well. Take what you want, it's the new Cantr.
