Not enough hematite
Have you ever started a project to make 1500g of iron, only to discover that you don't have enough hematite? I have. Thats why i propose that we change the project to make it so you choos how much hematite to use, unstead of how much iron to make.

Such as refighning iron? In refighning iron, you set how much iron or steal you want to make, but instead, you should make it so you put in how much iron ore to use.

Then you might have a problem with limestone, or with coal/propane/charcoal. All things considered, it's no different from setting the amount of iron wanted and using a calculator (or guess-and-check).
What might be useful is a built-in calculator - instead of the current "set amount to produce" page, have a page where you can set the amount of product or any one input, and the page automatically computes the other amounts. It would be purely cosmetic, and not a high priority, but convenient, if it could be coded easily.

An 'advanced' version of the form could be created where you input how much of the limiting material you have.
I wish to make iron using [x] grams of
[a] limestone
[b] coal
[c] iron ore
where you can type in [x], and select one of [a], [b] or [c]. But then you'd have to know what your limiting material is.
Another option might be a warning message, "You do not currently hold all of the necessary ingredients to make this product. Do you wish to continue?"

Of course it could be coded easaly. Just set another page to load up before going to the activitys page, and for coading, put a link to the answer given last page, and then do several matmatical equastions to find the answer to limstone and stuff.
But seriously, my way won't be that hard to program either. Just Switch mathmatic equations on that page were you put in how much iron to make, and make it how much hematite to use. It's not that hard. I COULD PROBABLY EVEN DO IT!!! JUST give me the coading for that page(minus the backgrounds and colors and such.)

You could just use a calculator?
It's really not that difficult to work out how much iron you can make from a set amount of iron ore.
Assuming you are using the smelting furnace, and coal or charcoal (gas is different) and you have x amount of iron ore. Then 0.5x = amount of iron ore to set a project for.
0.5 is arrived at by looking at the daily rate. In 1 day, a smelting furnace can produce 350g of iron, using 700g of iron ore. so 350/700 = 0.5, or amount of iron/amount of iron ore = 0.5. With a little re-arranging, amount of iron=0.5amount of iron ore.
The exact same principle can be used for every single project in Cantr. Just get a calculator and apply a bit of very simple algebra.
Don't be so bloody lazy.

Pie if you just hadn't put the gh in 'refining' you would've spelled everything correctly!
I'm not sure if I'm amazed that you came so close or dissapointed that you still misspelled one word.
This'll be really ironic if I misspelled misspelled.
