Autogenerated turn reports

Postby west » Mon Feb 13, 2006 7:20 pm

Haven't found anything like this in the forum; apologize if it's been brought up.

In the old days, turn reports were mailed automatically at the end of the day. Now they must be clicked individually, and if you are away and forget to click a day's report button you can potentially miss things.

I would like to see a check-box in "Account Options" to be able to opt-in to automatically receiving turn reports again.

I understand auto-reports were eliminated because of bandwidth concerns, but presumably that is less of an issue now, and the people who would want them are the only people who would opt-in anyway, I'd assume.
I'm not dead; I'm dormant.

If I remember correctly, they were not stopped for bandwidth reasons, but because it was too big a server process, clogging up the server. We'd have something similar as the database backup.

What about automatic turn reports only when on leave?

Automatic reports when on leave makes a lot of sense!

Anyway, as an alternative to the original post...
I find a waste of "clicks" and maybe server processor to have individual daily reports. I don't know for how many days the events are kept, but we could have something like weekly reports, no? It would also look better in my e-mail box and would be better for searches! :)

So you can keep track of everything that happened to your character. They kind of pile up after awhile and it's hard to find anything though, I'm thinking of pasting each characters transcripts to word so I can just search for stuff in one file instead of clicking through a billion emails. :?

Well...can't you see what happened on the events page?

I started to do that myself too. But once again, it would make our life easier to have less reports containing more days.

SZK, the events disappear after a few days. If you want to check something that happened long ago, you can't.
