Destroying Notes
I'm not sure if there is a way to do this. I think there's a trashcan available to be built in Cantr but maybe not. But anyways I think you should add the option to tear up a note.

This had been implemented for two seconds, but was removed due to constraints in the system at the moment.
The only way to do this, at the moment, is much like burying a body. You click the button and work on the project. However, you should already be able to see the problems. If you click the button to destroy the note, the note is gone forever. You can't cancel the project and get the note back, just like you can't cancel the body. You have to compelte it to destroy the note. But why? Just like bodies, they're in a project and could be ignored. So, this is then open to idiots and theives deleting notes by "destroying" them, and causing major problems in game because those notes are then gone never to return.
There are other reasons too, but this being the main one.

Well theives and idiots could also just pick up a note and run away. Perhaps you could have an option of destroying notes but it taking about a day per note so that if someone picks up the note and tries to tear it up they could be stopped.
I mean notes really aren't that bad. They're just minor inconvenieces like dead bodies. But since they can't be destroyed they're going to be in the game forever correct? Perhaps you could have a note degrade like weapons and it saying "old note" or something if it's about to disintegrate so that you know you need to copy the note for it to remain.
The wear down process should take about 10 years total at least. Notes in a persons possession could wear down slower than notes floor too. So perhaps 20 years while on a person and 10 years on the ground.

Jos I know historically prefers to have every note permanent, and I think I agree with him. Although sometimes it's a pain having forty copies of something floating around, I like knowing that, say, the first note any of my characters ever dropped publicly is still around there somewhere. (dated 283, there are ten copies, and they're all in envelopes
)
I'm not dead; I'm dormant.

Here is a classic example of why notes need to be torn up.
In Djorf Hills (north) this guy died and a BUNCH of copies of this note saying "You sir are an idiot" fell on the ground.
If note tearing is still a bad idea. At least have it where if someone dies only 1 copy of their notes fall on the ground.
And also you should have note degradation so that old notes don't stay forever in the game.

'Note Bombing' is banned I thought?
Note dergedation has been suggested before - and I'm not sure I like it - to keep notes active would require characters to continuously copy them - no one is prepared to do that. There's too much history held in notes to be able to loose them so quickly, no matter how 'unreal' indestructible notes are...
Pick them up, put them in an envelope - build a stone building, put on a lock, lock the building, give the key to a newspawn and drag the newspawn onto a boat, lock the boat, push the boat out to sea - no more shall the notes trouble you...

Yes. Note Bombing is an OOC way to piss off players. How so? Well, the player knows when a character dies, all the notes hit the ground, as does everything else. The character knows this too, but would they really carry a billion notes to piss off "The Man"? Probably not.
This is something that should be reported in the CRB forum, when it occours.

I don't think notes should be able to be torn up, because of thieves and entrepenures. I had a libriarian once, who was riding around in a bike he'd found, and picking up ALL the notes he could, then trying to organise them. He wasn't making copies, ever. The idea he'd had was to make a library really nessecary, you'd need demand. To make demand, he was going to eliminate as many notes as he could from being in the public circulation. I'f he'd been able to tear up notes, the demand could very well have been real.
Can you imagine paying 50 iron to get a copy of the latest treefeather? That's *exactly* what I would have love to see.
If notes are to be destroyed, they should require a project. How about adding a new resource to the game? Fire.
Takes some wood, needs a machine like a firepit (novel use of that one), oven, fireplace or so forth, and produces fire. Maybe require a stone pot or a iron bucket or the likes to "carry" it in. Then if there was a "burn" project on the note, it could require adding fire and you have the note listed as a tool, so that if someone starts a bookburning and people want to save the notes, they cancel the project that hasn't had the fire added to it, and since you don't need to "add" the note, it's not destroyed yet.
I know how much people would love to burn down buildings and such, but it's just like building deterioration, it'd be insane, so don't do it. Burning bodies could be an option though.

Reality was never my strong point.
