WOOL CLOTH

Postby SekoETC » Fri Jul 15, 2005 12:49 pm

Suggested a million times but this time with a poll and nothing else in the topic because I really want wool cloth and since there's never much reaction I prolly haven't made it clear enough. Do I need to start crying?

No tartan.

Please god, no tartan... *he shudders*

I see no reason for wool cloth... doesn't wool yarn fulfil that niche already? Why change anything?

It doesn't have to be tartan. It could be plain. But woven wool cloth is different from knitted fabric, totally different. Knitted things stretch way much. If someone is wearing knitted wool pants then it looks like they're wearing thick tights. Imagine men in tights, let's hope they got long tunics. But pants made from woven wool cloth would look like normal pants.

Yes. I support anything that adds more variety to clothes and jewelry.

If you do this, then it would only make sense if you were able to make clothes out of hemp, silk, and cotton yarn using needles.

That's called lace. It's quite thin and slow to make. If you would make whole clothes out of it, that would take a whole lot of time and not offer much protection from cold. Wool yarn is knittable because it's more fluffy than the other yarns, which are thinner because their incredients are stronger. Maybe a bit off-topic but lets add crotcheting, that uses cotton yarn.

I imagine hemp yarn would be similar to wool.

but not as soft. You can make things out of it, like pants, but they're liable to be scratchy.

i always thought hemp was better for ropes and macrame (i think there might be an accent on that last e) than for making clothes out of. seems like hemp anything is liable to be scratchy.

Yeah hemp is scratchy and harder than wool. Someone said hemp is like linen. Well I got a hippy style linen dress, I could take a picture of it, then you'll see hemp things don't necessarily have to be ugly and coarse.

hemp, if spun well, can be used a lot like wool, but is usually finer and less itchy
