Food Qualities

Postby Cookie » Mon May 30, 2005 8:50 pm

We have so many foods but some are rarely used beacue either they are rubbish or there is a better alternative. So to give the foods more character I suggest we not have some like special qualities each of them could give you. Like making you work faster, cary more, for example.

I mean sugary foods give you more energy in real life and a diet of protein high foods, meat, would make you stronger.

I am not so sure on wether this is a good suggestion myself but I think it might give more value to food and we might see more trade for foods.

Temporary. I think permanant would bring the game down the line of a stats game, which I wouldn't like.

Both would make sense, a temporary large boost which would build up a small perminant one over time, just like real life.

I don't know you could make an arguement for just the opposite. A diet rich in suger would give you plenty of energy in the short term, but in the long run, a high protien diet might be better.

Before we go too far down this path, We should have the ability to set what we eat more easily. While it can be done with the current programming, it is a royal pain in the butt to do so...

I do agree that diet should somehow effect characters. It might really help in creating a difference in culture between towns.

Yeh I see what you mean, America vs. Europe. You can tell the difference in diet there. Just count the belt sizes.

No but really, I had been thinking of it as temporary effects but maybe its a nicer idea. However you could still have it temporary to a point so people can change there diet.

Sure, it doesnt make too much of a difference nowadays, when I can eat anything from bananas to joe louis. But I'm sure back in the day, it would be a big cultural thing, your diet.

No your right, it's like in that film with Frank Sinatara and Charles Bronson. (and steve mcqueen I think) They feed the japanese prisoners western food and they all get ill because they're used to eating rice and sushi.
