Game theory:
Ha Ha! I think I've done it. I've only been able to test this once so far, but I think it may work.
When I created a new character, I named it "Someplace good". And guess what, it worked! I landed anywhere but Drojf! Yay!!!

I just really really really hate areas that are hippy based. No violence, even to criminals. It's like freaking Cali here in the states.
You can kill someone and just spend... I dunno... 25 years in prison then walk free.
Not to mention they are all very corrupted there. They don't get their hands dirty. They just trick other organisations into doing thier dirty work.
And don't get me started on the Nosse. I can't wait till one of my characters gets some power in that region. They'll be the first to die.

My main complaint is that besides being boring, it's just too freaking big. My events list would just get filled with pages and pages of people going in and out of buildings and whispering to each other. I've found that bigger cities just don't have the sense of community that smaller places do; it's tough to make friends or even hold a conversation because of all he background noise (unless you're willing to resort to extreme attention-getting actions, which I generally don't like to do). Also, one of my characters may have developed some serious issues because of her first experiences of being ignored there...
And I know I've said 'big cities' in general, but on further consideration, I think it's just something about Djorf in particular...Olip West is also huge and I've always enjoyed the characters I've had there.

It's funny to read the opposite sentiments ... One complains Drojf is too boring and peaceful; the other complains you can't have enough community and friendship (ie. peaceful activities).
I agree that big cities can lead to huge, annoying events lists. But I'm just going to repeat what I've said many times:
That's what buildings are for!!
Just go inside your building, make it a store or marketplace or company or bar or ... and have notes outside to advertise, or sometimes walk outside and yell around your services and go back in, and your even list will only contain those people that have anything to do with you, be it visiting friends or clients or government officials or thieves or ... and you can have a resonably short events list, while concentrating on the development of the character, company, business, politics, etc.
Currently so few people do this, that people inside buildings are often completely ignored. It's still very silly to have all transactions, meetings, etc. take place on the village square. Buildings are really supposed to be more than just storage places!
In Quillanoi I always found this rather annoying. I don't want to read all that is going on in the town, but whenever I went inside a building, hardly anybody would come in and see me, and when you're outside, everybody expects that you read everything.
And you might argue that you miss too much when staying inside buildings, but that's why people should write newspapers and letters, should organise formal meetings, should create plays to show love affairs, etc. (How many theatres does Cantr have so far??)
Ah well, this is always something that slightly surprised or even irritated me about how Cantr has developed - as said, town squares were never intended to be like this - but perhaps it is also related to me personally: in real life, I also really like dealing with friends, collegues, staff in shops, etc., but I don't like at all to have to great people around me because I just happen to know them when walking in the streets etc ... Anyway, that's a bit besides the point, I guess

You mean like trying to have an actual rule of law rather than the haphazard violence that does the job for most people?
There aren't that many people that need killing when no one is making big, vicious power-plays, and the powers around there are pretty stable.
We do kill a lot of criminals, though. Mostly the ones who work hard to force us.

Do you prefer a system where we simply throw away anyone who commits a murder? That's the alternative.
And there's always a chance people will change...maybe less chance in cantr than IRL, but you can hope.

That's not corruption, that's intelligence. I don't actually have a clue what you're referring to, though. Drojf hasn't had any enemies to need 'dirty work' against for most of the time I've been around it.

Is there a reason for that, other than your dislike for any character who doesn't want to drink fresh cantrian blood?
They shelter a lot of people who'd never make it in the 'real world' outside, and they give more to the community than most successful businesses would (businesses rarely give benefit to anyone but their own top ranks). They have next to no weapons, and if they ever pushed for violence it would shock whoever they were talking to. How could they possibly threaten anyone?
Also, if you kill off the Nosse, you'll only survive it if you kill every character currently in power anywhere in the region. They just don't make enemies.
