Hunting small animals

Postby griogal » Mon Sep 22, 2003 11:52 pm

The different kinds of fish are represented as resource projects, inexhaustible. Why don't we have projects like that for small animals, like rabbits, grouse and other gamebirds? Right now the meat supplies are quickly exhausted.

e.g.
Rabbit
- Hunting 100g a day, requires bow (hunting, warbow, crossbow)
- Trapping random 0-500g a day, requires knife, rope

And while we're at it, why not enable hunting while on the road and insert animals on the roads. It would make travelling more exciting if you suddenly faced a bear.

Excellent idea!

That would give the long range weapons a much needed advantage.

I agree, it would be wonderful to see something like this implemented. Meat is becoming extremely hard to find in areas due to over hunting - and the majorinty of those hunters likely killed in self defense.

Damn those horses

I concurr with Pirog. Excellent idea.

And what is with those horses. They are worse next to the goats.

See? The horses don't attack as much if you keep moving :D Thus, the tribes, which rock! ...>_> Yes, that rock.

The tribes don't have anything to do with that, as I happen to know no one knows about the tribes in Kwor

Yea, hunting while traveling would be fun. Right now, traveling is a bit boring (ok, you can write story's). There was also a topic somewhere with the idea to make it possible to camp. That would be serious fun! You just put down your stuff, set up your camp (tent, fire), hunt an animal and there you go... your own meal... your own tent and your own fire ;).

That's exactly the thing I hope that will be possible in future.

They usually don't. At least they have never replied to any of my ideas......yet, except perhaps procreation and children which I think I started on the old Yahoo! Board. Though don't dispair. Just because they don't say anthing doesn't mean they aren't reading and discussing it.

Haven't heard anything.

A way to start is to make the paths a series of locations on the grid.

Today the current locations are already on a logical grid. (When your in a town and look at the location picture is puts your view where the town is)

Paths could be thought of as a seris of locations. The percentage traveled down a path equals a place on the grid. This could also help the walking on water thing.

Travelling would change to a project of sorts, like boating {well more like docking}. While travelling you would be visible in the location you are passing though. This would be helpful for hit and run. If your visible you can be hit and dragged.

Only when you "stop" can you do certain things like start a project, enter buildings, start/end a project.

Eventaully that could lead to the total grid systems.

But I'm just speculating as to how things could be done.

Actually, I have changed my opinion of this since I last posted. I still think the populations of smaller animals should be greater or at least breed like rabbits.

Currently animal populations are too small and reproduction is too slow. But then again why am I suggesting this when I am a Resource member now? I don't know but this is what I think anyways.

Now with gathering limits hunting is better than those proposed projects, but I agree that rabits, racons, etc. should go into bigger populations faster.
