New patterns for new lands
Cantr areas, at least the populated ones, are pretty much all composed of largeish solid blocks of land with fairly wide oceans between them and anywhere else. I don't think there's anywhere you can see a piece of land that you couldn't walk to.
I would suggest that a future 'island' be made either as an archapelago of 1-3 location islands where you can see other islands from any given one, or as a smallish continent with islands of 1-4 locations off its coast.
Also maybe toss a few little 1-2 location islands out onto the big blue ocean, to give 'landmarks' and potential stopovers for ships?
(I like ships...)

I would...but you certainly could put some resources only on offshore islands.
Though really...if there were an island with wood, stone, food, some medium-large animals, and some form of fiber, I'd want to build a city there. You could actually plausibly control the entire island, which would be neat.

Does it matter if no one wants to go there or not? if no one wants to go there = secret pirate hideout
I have a few of those picked out myself.
... err, I mean, there's too many people in cantr for hideouts. Some one would find it eventually. Riiiiiiight.
Reality was never my strong point.

Sorry, guys, but I believe the world is already all drawn out and done. Jos would have to confirm that though. But don't fret, the Cantr world is huge and you have only seen maybe about less than 25% of it and I would say only about 15% of it is actually populated.
So there is a lot to discover yet and I'm not going to say one way or another whether or not there are different landmasses than the ones that you guys currently know. You'll have to discover that in game yourself.
