Simple storage/Waste paper basket

At the moment the simplest storage requires iron (barrel)

How about a simple, small capacity, waste paper basket? - I hate having so many useless notes sitting in my inventory, having to make an envelope labelled trash or something - a small storage unit could be used just to take notes and envelopes etc. that have been left and are not needed any more...

A small storage unit might be useful for other reasons also...

The small storage for notes is the envelope...totally free. Why would you want a costly version?

Last I heard you can only put resources in containers anyway, not items.

I know... Maybe it;s just me and the amount of notes I get through, but I'd just love a way of deleting them - just tick a bunch of boxes or something and they're gone - Obvioulsy only deledtable by the original writer...

I dunno... It was just a thought - after having picked up an envelope labeled 'trash' and spent forever putting notes one by one into it...

I agree. This is a huge issue with a lot of my chars. I don't have the time, nor the minutes, to waste on going one by one to put notes in envelopes. A couple chars probably have upwards of a hundred notes.

I would like to see check boxes beside each note, so you can choose multiple notes to put into an envelope at one time. Or to hand to someone. These check boxes would be great beside resources or items as well, when you're handing some one a load of things. Would save a lot of time.

That's quite different from the initial suggestion...I think it's a good idea, though. It's been suggested before, but nothing happened...and I've definitely spent 15+ minutes (with a fast connecton) to sort notes into envelopes. That isn't fun at all.
