Mugging and Mobbing

Postby Solfius » Thu Aug 28, 2003 6:32 pm

Perhaps as an alternative to killing and dragging, it could be possible to knock a person unconcious.

It could be like normal fighting, but instead of the person getting hurt they get knocked out.

Mugging and mobbing are pretty up close personal knock-em-down-and-senseless kind of activities, so there would be a different kind of damaging system, where heavier things do more knockout damage than "real" weapons. Also I think it would be resonable to assume that whilst mobbing/mugging someone the people/person doing it is doing everything they can to knock the person down and knock em out, so the more people doing it the more advantage they get, basically bundling on top of the target in a big mass.

But perhaps to be successful you need a lot of people, or a minimum. Like dragging doesn't happen until you have enough poeple, mugging doesn't start until you have the minimum, say of 5+.

Just a starter idea, add as you wish ;)

I think this idea whould work well with the concept of space in the new version on Cantr. However I don't know if knocking someone out needs more people. I say a club should have a high knock-out force and even a fist should be higher then a sabre which is more useful for knocking out a person permenetly. Perhaps when the person is knocked out he cannot participate in projects and is easier to drag. Should only take 1 person to drag them.

I don't like the idea of mugging being a project that requires a lot of people...and it should also be involved in regular combat.

If I have a guy who is fighting unarmed or with a billy club against someone with a sabre my sole chance of winning would be knocking him out...

well, I'm getting tired, and I'm starting to lose track of what I'm saying, so I won't say anymore on this, except that I think there should be a way to mug someone in game.

Perhaps mugging and kncoking someone out could be different activities?

or maybe mugging is just the act of knocking someone out and taking their things, rather than a game mechanic. I think that might be the best way.

Yes, the mugging could be done manually by stealing the stuff from the knocked out victim

so, after knocking them unconcious their stuff could fall to the ground.

I think that's a better more flexible approach.

And they could become a body for a short while, and someone could accidentally bury them

 at the burying part

Either the stuff would end up on the ground or thieving projects would work much faster and have a much higher chance of succeeding.

But it would be cool if they ended up like a body...people could actually abduct them by dragging them into a vehicle and leaving the place.

Could you imagine kidnapping leaders of an area and ransoming them for money. That would be so funny. I agree though it would force people indoors which I guess isn't a bad thing.

One of my chars had the idea of kidnapping and ransoming a leader or two, but we figured nobody would pay for them.
