I was scrounging through the list earlier, and no, there's no nails anywhere yet in the manufacturing list. I kept going up and down tools, semi prods, everything. I'm going to check agian.
And yes iron dependency is a huge pain in the ass for most of my characters.
And I agree with Spectrus's vehicle idea.
Will there ever be a garage to park vehicles in!?

Actually, it's almost as easy to use wooden pegs in place of nails, just need something to make the holes which a reamer made out of any type of metal would take care of that or even just a chisel and hammer. I've seen several old barns in RL put together without a single nail.

Somewhat related:
I was thinking that some boats which are too small to have a real room/ galley/ whatever, could still have some sort of storage area, which would be made in the database similar to a regular room, but would have a max persons of 0 or 1. Hoists and pulleys would be needed to move barrels and crates in and out of the space.
Regarding nails/wooden pegs: It's not possible in the database for an object's requirements to be either/ or. So, a char could not choose between nails or wooden pegs when creating something. However, there could be a balance between objects that require iron nails vs. ones that require wooden pegs.
@Nitefyre: You're looking in the wrong place to see where nails are currently required >.> But yes, they are not yet required in many items which they would seemingly be required in. This is just a matter of when we get to it.

Max persons of 0 or 1? What would be the point of a room if no one can go in? Lol
As for the nails and wooden pegs, I think it is possible. It's just like the scenario of "iron trowel" and "trowel" - We give them BOTH the name of "trowel" but name their inventory description and all that other jazz "iron trowel". The Desc boxes are for players viewing, the "name" is for coding.
So then, applying this to a project, if we name nails and wooden pegs in the database as both "nails", and just set the description boxes to have different names so they can be told apart, then specify in the project to be built that it needs "nails", then, in theory, it could use both nails and wooden pegs.
In Theory.
I could be entirely wrong, here, lol.

I would also like to see more containers that doesn't need any iron.
The wooden crate is a great idea.
What about large clay pots? You know...they did store things before iron was invented...just so you know
Since there is no real bonus with storage containers I see no reason why they should be so expensive. It just adds some "environment" to the game, so that everything doesn't have to be scattered over the floors in every building.

Wood is for the door. Cellar is lockable, but obviously doesn't come with one. doubles as dungeon
Hypothetical situation.
If I were to implement this building (And PURPOSLY set it so it can be built inside of buildings only), what would happen?
Answer: People would make many of them for their house, since it won't say it's a Root Cellar, it will just be another room. It will act like a room, so you can walk in it - It needs to have storage, so it'll be like a basement. But the point is... THe room requires NOTHING, and will store LOTS. People will make these as their NORMAL rooms, since there's no difference apart from any other room.
I can't add this.
Unless it were a CONTAINER entitled "Root Cellar", one that must be built indoors and can't be picked up - then it would be fine. However, containers can yet to be locked, so it wouldn't be lockable.
