discourage eating raw foods
By making the char tired for about 20 % when eating uncooked foods like potatoes. As in not getting well fed you will lose vitality and showing it as getting tired.

Don't like.
Some places struggle to get food as it is. Having to cook everything will either lead to nothing else getting done because everyone has to cook or poeple just leaving town.

Re: discourage eating raw foods
Most places don't really have problems with food. And this will also open up trade for food and also in towns with enough food.
for small towns one person cooking is more than enough. Enough of my chars have been cooks for me to know that.
Also you don't have to eat cooked food. And if towns already have trouble providing food, they will already lose people. As many chars don't hang out in towns where it's unsure if they are able to eat.

Re: discourage eating raw foods
Actually this was already suggested some place else. It would actually be rather easy to implement. Apply it to foods that have a farming value. Although 20% does sound rather big...

Re: discourage eating raw foods
Well 20% was only a suggestion. As I think having a low % will not make many people change what they eat, as it's not a big penalty.

Why don't we just delete towns from the game because thats all this is going to do.
People can live perfectly fine on raw foods - this is just causing extra hassle for the sake of it.

I'm certain it won't. Yes people will have to cook more, besides you can still eat raw foods.

Alternate suggestion:
Make some characters who feel raw foods are taboo or poisonous unless prepared properly. Drag anyone farming for raw foods unless you know they are one of hte "cooks" who make them into edible products.
Same situation, more fun.
Get really crazy and go all Blackrock on them: "You farm, you're wounded."

I support nateflory's suggestion.
I definitely wouldn't support a system where raw foods penalize you.

Re: discourage eating raw foods
So you think in rl you can eat raw potatoes all the time without getting to feel bad? And if you're in a town with 50 or 60 people its hard to tell everyone to not farm or not eat raw foods or else. And yes I know only a few towns if not only one town has that amount of people.

I eat raw potatoes all the time. Raw carrots, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, spinach, lettuce, etc. All this eaten raw in RL with no health consequences.

Re: discourage eating raw foods
*Shrugs* I like the taste of raw foods, both fruit and vegetables. Better than cooked 95% of the time.
My point is just that it doesn't affect your health to eat fruit and vegetables raw in real life, so you can't really justify making them affect your health in cantr saying 'in rl it hurts you' <-(I know you didn't say that exactly, but it's basically what you were saying)

Re: discourage eating raw foods
IRL it's healthier to eat vegetables and fruits raw than cooked but you still need to prepare them by washing, peeling, chopping and so on. Maybe the tiredness involved with raw foods would come from these preparatory procedures that would be assumed to happen. Or if you were chewing your raw potatoes whole, it would at least make your jaws tired.
