This question should just have been in general discussion and not in support. Anyway I believe there is a chance of 5 % that a whisper is over heard and then every char has I'm not sure how many % but every char has chance to over hear it.

Same thing happened to me.

Unfortunately it seems most cantr whispers involve err.. explicit topics, which most people would rather not be subjected to overhearing. We have no choice, though. :?

The chance of overhearing whispers has only recently been introduced. It was the subject of a poll, and these objections were voiced, but the change was made.

I'm certain that's not true. My chars have never over heard such a whisper.

I've to agree with Arenti, most of the whispers I hear are only things that coulda been said outloud anyway.

People "whisper sexing" shouldn't be doing that "in public" anyway. X|

MAKE AN IC STINK ABOUT IT!!!!!! (I sure as hell will if it happens.)

I would consider overhearing an emote in a whisper as seeing an action they were trying to hide, would this be a good way to think of it?

I think so...I don't usually put my *emotes* in the whisper box as I figure the actions by my character can be seen by all anyway... Not very realistic unless they were trying to hide it like you said.

If you overhear something like *he lays his hand gently on her shoulder and leans in to plant a little kiss on the cheek*, it seems like a very subtle and beautiful gesture while if such a thing was emoted in public, it would be like "Hey look, I have a girlfriend and we're making out in public!" You could compare it to a train station or an air port, often you see people hugging and such, but they don't make noise about it, unless they're certain types of noisy Americans that go like "OHMIGAWWWWWWWWWWWWWD! *Waddles over, arms wide, grabs the target in a bear hug and rocks slightly from side to side.* It's so good to see youuuuuuuu!" I think after overhearing was implemented (well, after I implemented it :p), at least one of my characters has started having more private conversations in public because it might create interesting scenarios if someone happened to overhear an essential part of it. Before the change there was no chance that any outsiders would ever be accidentally involved, so you were more tempted to have any non-sensitive conversations in public even if they really touched only two people.
