Docking
I don't get it, how can a small boat dock to a larger boat even if the larger boat isn't willing to allow the docking, but a larger boat cannot dock to a smaller boat.
Allow boats that can be docked by smaller boats to be able to dock to those boats.

Oh really? The boat goes "in" the larger boat? Is that how it works? Without the people on the larger boats consent right? Yeah that doesn't happen.
I always thought when a boat docked to another boat in Cantr it was tied to it, not in it. A bigger boat can be tied to a smaller one. Your analogy is invalid.

It is.
Also, in reference to this suggestion, it would change sea battles a whole lot if any ship could dock to any ship. The current system has limitations so even though small ships do not go very fast they can still stay alive in a battle because they can't be docked to by big, fasts ships.
If rakers could dock to longboats and dinghys then it would be far to easy for pirates to chase down and kill every longboat of dinghy they wanted to. They are 5 times as fast, and could dock right to them. Also they have cabins to duck in and out of during the fight, so the people on the smaller boats would have zero chance of living.
That is why the system is set up the way it is, and that is why it doesn't need to be changed.
Every action has a consequence.

I guess this really is another question of how realistic should Cantr be?
This is a game, thus it should function in a balanced manner so it can be played properly. We do strive to maintain a since of reality when setting the game mechanics, but there are certain areas that cannot be completely life-like or the game would not run correctly. It needs to be balanced so there is a fair chance for players across a broad range of wealth to survive.

I think Yugo lost a boat.
Well, it is more than real that smaller ships can outrun larger ships. Specially when speaking on non-motorized boats. Just consider that both ships are receiving the same amount of energy from the wind. A lighter ship will need much less energy to be moved than a larger one.
Now, I don't have much to complain about the system as far as it works, but I agree that large ships can be easily taken from unprepared crews. But making everything dockable wouldn't help much either and would look silly. Just think of a raft carrying a galleon around. No, no! That's wrong. That's doing it wrong, and could possibly be much worse. Now that silly named dinghy over the horizon could be carrying a whole fleet with it.
I think it would be much more interesting for the balance if:
a. Docking to another ship was made difficult/Introduction of barriers/Required a rope ladder, hooks, whatever;
OR
b. Galleons could "try" to dock on smaller ships, but would wreck them (Fun Times at Sea!!!).
