Phosphorus

Postby Piscator » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:22 pm

This is actually a two part suggestion.

Firstly, could the resource please be renamed to "phosphate"? Phosphorus doesn't occur as an element in nature and although that's no reason why it shouldn't occur in Cantr in this form it seems odd nevertheless.

Secondly, could phosphate perhaps be made by ashing bones? That would on the one hand simplify the creation process of bronze a little (which I haven't seen in game so far) and would on the other hand reduce the amount of otherwise useless bones.

(Another, somewhat half-baked, idea of mine would be to utilize phosphate as a fertilizer.)
Pretty in pink.

I agree with all of the above suggestions. Bronze was supposed to be lower tech than iron, but the many resources required to make it, often scattered over a large area, pretty much made it extremely rare. Anything that will make bronze more common, I'm for it.

Bronze is rare outside of a small region that has phosphorous, but those chars who have it have no iron.

The values for bronze tools and weapons consider this, so before any change is made it's important to look at who would no longer value iron in areas where it is currently available and traded or even used as curency.

Alright, we are working up some projects in RD now to turn bones into phosphate to make bronze with. What are you guy's opinions on this?
Every action has a consequence.
