When you order your character to start traveling the character will be immediately gone from the location he was in. This means other characters cannot talk to him any more, don't see him any more, cannot give him anything, etc.
I think it would be more logical if the movement would start at the next movement phase, not immediately. It happened to my character several times that he couldn't say goodbye...

This wouldn't hinder thieves at all, they just will have to better their timing - plan their 'dramatic exit' instead of act in a whim.
I have a totally different view on this. I particularly like the positive parts of the game: character building, economy building, society building. Random murder, thievery, unrealistic elements, indifference, chaos and anarchy are elements that put me off.
This suggestion would give the game a little bit more realism and fairness in character interaction, i feel.
