Admin Messages in the Turn Reports

Postby Chris » Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:18 pm

First, my turn reports are plain text, not html. The header tells my mail reader that "Content-type: text/plain" so it ignores any html commands like <br>. So please stop putting them in. :)

Second, I don't read my turn reports regularly. I read the events as they happen. The turn reports are for archival purposes, so my characters won't suffer from the fact that I am only one person. Thus, I don't read current events bulletins in turn reports. They are merely spam to scroll past. Announcements on the Cantr Characters List page and on this forum are more likely to be read in a timely fashion.

Thanks for listening. :)

Not sure if this is a suggestion... if it is, it should go into the suggestions forum.

I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at here. The <br> may be out of anyone's control as they might be necessary for proper formatting on the in-game screens. Of course turn reports are for archival purposes and I doubt anyone reads through them regularly unless it's for nostalgia. As archives, I don't see a problem with them archiving the announcements either. I've used my turn reports to reference in-game announcements before. I'd rather have the record of them than stress over having an extra half-screen to scroll through in my reports on the few occasions I do look through them.

I frequently (almost daily) search through my turn reports, looking for things I as a player forgot my char knew. I also datamine as a player just because I'm interested in various large scale aspects for my own amusement (like, "is there a bus on this island?", "have I seen all 50 free bikes among all my chars" or "Is anyone using fishing nets regularly to feed a location").
In my email client it looks fine, but I like to search the raw mail file in a text editor. I can live with the <br>'s at the end of every line.
My reports are of content type text/html however, are you sure nothing is messing with that on your side?

You have an option to receive either text or html. From the Characters page, click the Change button to see your account options.
