Burial at sea?

Postby Festo » Tue Feb 03, 2004 12:56 am

Hey, i'm new to the forums, so hello everyone. Anyway, one of my characters is on a boat with a dead person, and i wanted to get rid of the weight so i tried burying her. For some bizarre reason it's working. Does anyone know if the person is dumped overboard or do they become part of the ship? It hasn't finished yet so i don't know.

Unfortunately for my poor character, I know the answer to your question from experience. Yes, you can give bodies burials at sea. There won't be any error messages or anything.

Yeah, but do you give them the old heave-ho overboard, or do they fuse with your ship and become permanent weight?

We should make such practices heard better through out this world. =D

I think they just are buried and disappear, into the rabbit hole in your vessel, which seems to be taking on water, and drowning your char.

I don't know... it would be difficult to find out, since you would have to test how much weight a boat that was the site of a burial project and compare that to an identical boat on which no body was buried. I don't think you should have to worry about it though, as most boats should be able to carry sufficient supplies, corpse or no corpse.

No, Cantr ships have so many barnacles that bodies can be buried in them. :D

Seriously, though, I think the weight just disappears. This would be true if ship burials are just something that got overlooked in the programming.

I think it's the equivalent of dumping them overboard. Programming-wise, it's a normal burying project, but you can RP the throwing overboard in a suitably reverent way.

the 2 hour project is merely ceremony.
