Locks (moved from suggestions)

Postby Appolom » Wed Sep 12, 2007 8:11 pm

How about to destroy them when they are both locked and unlocked?

That was implemented long ago. Just go inside of the building with the unlocked lock, and click on the "destroy" icon in the objects page. It takes 3 days and requires only a screwdriver. While it does take 3 days, it has a 100% success rate, so usually you come out ahead.

But you cannot destroy locked ones...that's what I want.

It's called lockpicking, dude. You need a crowbar. Also if you have the key to that particular lock then you would have to drop it to be able to start the lockpicking project, but if you do have the key then it would be easier to just unlock the lock and then remove it with a screwdriver.

Unless you have a crowbar and not a screwdriver and you really want to destroy that lock.

You can destroy a locked or unlocked lock with a screwdriver.

No you can't Elros. Since that would mean every prisoner with a screwdriver could get out in the time that it takes to remove a lock, zero chance of failure (unless you get killed). You can start the project I think, you can start the project even if you didn't have a screwdriver but if you try to work on it it will say that it's locked or you don't have the right turns. When the thing was first implemented it was possible to break locked locks from the inside with a screwdriver but since that screwed with the possibility of prisons (and a screwdriver is concealable too, so you wouldn't know if someone's carrying it) it was changed to work only on unlocked locks.

What they should do is have a chance of having the lock on the outside of the building.

Oh ok, I am sorry. I have broken a locked lock before with a screwdriver when I was locked on a pirate's boat, so I assumed it was still possible. I guess that was before they changed it...
