One of my new spawns was bored in his new town and decided to leave. Before he left, he tried every car and bike door to see if it was unlocked. none were, so he left by foot.

If you can see someone drop a note, you should be able to see someone put their hands on your car and try and open it.

so if you dont agree with this idea you should also not like seeing notes being dropped :)

That was my way of suggesting we see a message whenever someone tries to open a locked building or car.

lol i know and i completly agree with this, this would also be good with my post about not being able to see everthing that happens http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11352

would make the game more interesting in many ways.

It'd be very noisy. I do that a lot on almost all my poor characters, they have nothing to lose!

A long time ago I suggested that chars be more sneaky and, at the same time, have a chance of being caught. I have some expanded ideas about it.

I suggested that a "sneak" button be added to allow chars to enter and exit buldings/towns, whisper, break locks, try to get into vehicles, drop and drag notes, etc. without being seen at all. This would allow for all kinds of yummy badness.

BUT! The catch is that there would be a 25% chance that they would be seen or heard. Maybe not even by everyone. Maybe other chars would have to be "Watching" or "On alert" in order to catch these activities. Watching would be like a project so guards or lookouts or spys would not be able to do any other kind of work and would specialize in this activity. Maybe it could also be a new skill. If it were, I would suggest that it be stacked toward the low end so that only a rare few were expert at Watching. These few would be a real boon to any community.

They'd have to stop for food at some point, and then someone else might steal the vehicle in a similar way. All you could do is keep going and hope to find enough stuff to steal, cause you really couldn't afford to stop to farm. The chance of finding free iron for a lock is like one in a million.

I like Kinvoya's idea :) I hate how guards end up simply being normal workers with weapons.

I like Bowser's too, and I think some similar things could be expanded on, such as "you see a man use a key to enter <building> leaving <place>" or "you see a man enter locked <building> leaving <place>"

Something like that.
