This is AWESOME.

I was logged in and typing a long comment in the big box (meant to log out again before posting it) when all of a sudden a new event popped up!

Was this just added? It's the coolest thing ever, but... I really need to know if it eats minutes or not when it 'refreshes' or whatever it does, because staying online while I type longer posts is something I do a lot. Sometimes I even walk away for awhile. (It's not a big deal, I guess I can just log out and then use the back button, but I still need to know if I should start getting into that habit or not.)

This does not eat minutes. However if you spend a while watching events and do something else than logging out your minutes will be substracted.

It is available to users who have Java enabled (and ActiveX when using IE).

It's disabled again, due to some bug that I can't figure out. But yes, very soon this should be a standard feature.

Note that the timelimit thingy was already changed so that a max of 5 minutes can be deduced at once. So you can leave your events page open, see all that's happening, and the most severe punishment for then doing something is 5 min deduced ;) ...

Only if the the previous page viewed was the players page - thats fine if you just idle in events direct from the player page, but click on any other after accessing a character and timing is normal.

EDIT: Actually it's not fine to idle in the events page - The 5 minutes max is just for the time idling on the players page.

And it's worth to notice that this feature is only available to English language due to character encoding issue.

Hmm, I was going to implement and then make a nice announcement but now all info starts to trickle in :) ...

And Chris, can we not do that change throughout the code rather than only on the player page?

Yeah I was wondering about the 5 minute thing too, because I was looking through the object database yesterday for a while trying to get ideas for certain things, and then when I went back to the player page it only deducted 5 min. even though I was logged in for about 20 min.
Every action has a consequence.

Jos did this idea come from Digg spy or was it something you were already working on?
Yuk yuk yuk.
