Yay, that's sounds great! Lets go play Kira! Anyone's got a Death Note to spare?
No, seriously, that'd be a one and only solution, but completely unreal and impossible to perform

Well, Finland is quite okay in my opinion. To me it's the perfect society, because it first of all exists in the real world. That's an important merit for a society. It has also successfully continued to exist for some time, so apparently it can't be totally horrible.

It's an okay place to live for me. There's sunlight and trees and people, and what else. Oh yes, free high-quality education.
Everyone speak the Finnish language, too. I can speak my mother language and all understand me. That's awesome. When you think of it, Finland is the only place in the world for Finnish people. I like that.

Maybe not for long though, if the massive immigration that is planned will really be started. That's sad and worrying. Having hundreds of thousands, or even millions of people from Africa and Middle-east brought into a relatively monocultural nation state like this, and then artificially having their own cultures upkept with state money, will cause massive problems. The worst thing is discussion about the matter is suppressed... Even though it changes the country forever.

I find the question impossible to answer, really. If we finally achieved a perfect society, it would mean a halt to all development and that there would be only one correct way of thinking and seeing things - which wouldn't be so perfect after all...

If I had to answer, it would be current Finland plus people with common sense deciding about immigration politics, instead of these xenomanic idealists.

I think that striving for perfection in society is dangerous and unworkable. Many, many changes are needed, but it's not to fit some abstract vision of how people or society should be. Changes are needed because things are broken, and we humans may be hastening our own extinction, or at least decline as a species.

Capitalism and socialism are both unsustainable. Markets are important and useful, but they don't solve every problem and in fact create some of their own. Trade is great, but for whole countries to rely on other countries for food is insane. What happens when oil prices make transporting food more expensive? What happens when farming corporations chase more profits from ethanol? We are starting to see the effects now.

If technology has advanced so much, why are we working longer hours? One worker per household working 40 hours per week used to be common. Now it's common to have 2 full-time workers per household, and they are likely to be in a lot of debt. We could work fewer hours, satisfy all our needs, and consume fewer luxuries. But our whole system is geared toward economic growth, so we have to make more and consume more and stimulate appetites for nonessential things.

Our economies eat forests and oceans and shit toxic waste. Sooner or later, we start cleaning up after ourselves, or we live in a world of our own toxic shit.

The problem is that The generation that will have to deal with all this stuff isnt even in power. If we thought of what we would leave behind for the next generation I think that more changes would be made for the better.

It ins't even on earth.

Don't complain with me.

If you live in a country where population doesn't grow, it only gets smaller, there is your reason.

I think the search for a perfect society is a good thing, it is a good objective to the humans. However, it brings the danger of massacre and extermination, considerating that a perfect society for you it is perfect for you. I for example, wouldn't think a socity that prohibits me from eating meat, cursing or wearing bright green clothes is perfect.

Also, I think we must surpass this old limits of socialist and capitalism, this way to see politics is from the Cold War and does not apply well to our reality. We cannot see things only in black and white.

Society as in the way people act not the government is really messed up on pirorities and personally I feel they should just go out and shoot half the people.

History and Disney movies has taught us the wise lesson that violence and blood only generates more violence and social deturpation.

where do i begin?.....

1) ultimately we need an alternative energy source. oil doesn't cut it anymore. one day there will not be enough.

2) people suck. there are some parents who are incapable of properly raising children. this eventually becomes societies problem. there is no solution to this.

3) as much as we enjoy killing each other and bickering over which country has more power the fact remains that the earth will go into another ice age. solution? WORLD PEACE! i mean, does anyone but me realize how close we are to world peace already?

4) the U.S.A's democratic system has failed. we need a new system.

5) i firmly beleive that us human beings are the dominant force on earth and that we have free reign to do as we must to survive. meaning that the animals have no actual rights. i am not saying that we should abuse them freely and act like it's ok, but when it comes down to it they don't matter. i think hostile animal species should be killed or contained so they no longer cause a threat to human beings. but no. animal rights protesters think they should roam free and do as they please.

the future of the world starts now. the world is already falling apart. should we wait till society crumbles or simply reform NOW? and why do people have to be so single minded all the time? the world is the way it is because people refuse to change.

i am as " neutral minded " in the real world as i was in the cantr world. go on. give me a topic.

Lots of interesting comments here. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/yourview/1569465/Why-are-so-many-Britons-emigrating.html

200,000 indigenous Britons are emigrating the country each year, while the massive immigration continues. Judging by the comments, looks like not all are enjoying the vibrant multiculturalism.
As a matter of fact, it seems especially the hard-working and educated people are leaving. In ten years, that's two million tax payers. It must hit the economy bad.

What an interesting situation:

- indigenous Britons are leaving in masses, and the phenomenon is likely to only increase by time
- immigrants, who on average consume more tax money than they produce, are arriving in even greater amounts
- the foreigners are generally very fertile people while the indigenous population would decrease even with zero emigration

I won't even bother to predict the future if this development goes on. Apart from the economic disaster, a whole different topic would be the severe social problems caused by multiculturalism.

Actually, I wish the collapse comes as soon as possible. Finland hasn't yet taken many steps on this road and might be spared from the whole madness.

No solution? You could always kill them or keep them from making babies. The question is who draws the line, who decides what's wrong and right, who gets to live and who doesn't.

The nuclear family (only parents and children) is too small to be consistently effective in giving kids what they need. Some larger unit -- either extended family or a tight-knit community -- is needed.

I think that's extremely short sighted. Any basic lesson in ecology tells us that each species plays some role in an ecosystem. If there's one thing humans can't escape, it's the fact that we are a part of an ecosystem, and if that goes to shit then we will die.

A real simple example:

1) Jungle panthers have often been known to attack and even kill human beings.

2) Koala bears eat leaves.

3) Leaves make oxygen.

4) Jungle panthers, among other predators, enjoy eating koala bears.

So, what happens is this: eliminate the jungle panther from the ecosystem, and the koala bear population rises. Good for bear enthusiasts, bad for plants. Koala bears, with their now increased population, consume more and more leaves to stay alive. If you go through with your plan to eliminate all predators that happen to attack humans, this kind of scenario is compounded until the world's herbivores are in such high concentration relative to the plant population that the quality of our atmosphere actually starts to decrease.

To cut a long story short: no predators = no plants = no oxygen = no us.

This is an extreme scenario, but you're proposing an extreme action.

But even if we did wipe out these carnivores such as lions, panthers, Jaguars etc. That still leaves one predator we'd never wipe out, us. Humans have always been the most efficient predator, wiping out wholes species in as little as a hundred years. I don't think the loss of a few dangerous predators would really hurt human civilization. The only that keeps many animals from becoming human prey are strict hunting or conservation laws. If such predators as mountain lions and wolves where extinct in the US for example I don't think the human population would have any trouble making up for the loss in terms of animal control with laxer hunting laws in technical terms. In moral terms take it for what you will .

Personally, It think money should be done away with. There goes a lot of crime! :D (excluding all the one done for revenge, pissing people off, and all that)

where do i begin?.....

1) ultimately we need an alternative energy source. oil doesn't cut it anymore. one day there will not be enough.

I agree with you there.

2) people suck. there are some parents who are incapable of properly raising children. this eventually becomes societies problem. there is no solution to this.

It's mostly in America. I think. Americans are stupid. :/

3) as much as we enjoy killing each other and bickering over which country has more power the fact remains that the earth will go into another ice age. solution? WORLD PEACE! i mean, does anyone but me realize how close we are to world peace already?

The Ice Ages are the least worries we have. Global warming, that massive meteor thats scheduled to hit earth, and terrorists and all that? World Peace could help us focus more on that though, so yay! I doubt it'll happen though. Difference in cultures will always screw that up.

4) the U.S.A's democratic system has failed. we need a new system.

I propose a demo-communistic government. :P The people don't know what they want. All they care about is lower tax rates, the majority of US citizens wouldn't care about other things such as global warming.

Anyway, the ecosystem of the world should be preserved. Animals have rights. We have rights? We're basically just really smart animals. They should have rights too. Not to mention if we just go around killing we'l end up dead.

the future of the world starts now. the world is already falling apart. should we wait till society crumbles or simply reform NOW? and why do people have to be so single minded all the time? the world is the way it is because people refuse to change.

i am as " neutral minded " in the real world as i was in the cantr world. go on. give me a topic.

I personally think the post wasn't very neutral. ;-D Just a note... your characters are very... very... annoying. I like them. You should really try and make some different types of charries instead of just neutral minded ones.

Koalas are not bears.

Animals should have as many rights as us. Of course, they can't own land since land ownership is a human concept, but they should have the same basic rights: Life, freedom from pain, justice, etc. The problem is that people see animals as a commodity, a resource, rather than intelligent beings. And since we've grown up with that attitude it's difficult to shift to a different point of view.

'Differences in cultures' is not a barrier to world peace, or even a problem. It's people's attitudes to those differences that cause problems. The sooner people accept difference, rather than use it as an excuse, the sooner we'd achieve world peace. There may always be ignorant bigots, but at least if they're in the minority then society as a whole is better.

It's not just Americans. All people are stupid. Generally speaking. This could be the result of bad education, modern media, thankless minimum-wage jobs, popular attitudes... who knows? I'd personally put it down to education with an element of the others, along with a general malaise caused by the apparent pointlessness of a life restricted in almost every way by the government and money.

Whatever things need to be done to create an ideal society would have to be either forced upon the ignorant public, or explained to them enough so they agree with it. The latter is the most difficult and time-consuming way, but the best, morally and ideologically.
