I think the literacy laws I'll be enacting might help for that too. People who use chatsp33k or can't write a properly punctuated and capitalized note will be sent to the Reeducation Center, conveniently located right next to the Forced Labor Factory for Unrepentant Idiots. And the island is small so they CAN'T EVER ESCAPE. I wouldn't even really have to lock the doors, just make sure nobody builds boats without permission.

I vote we ban Marian from Newspawn Island.... this kind of attitude is profoundly unhelpful if we want people to stick around!

Yes I'm joking...should have know better to say anything at all, this is always such a touchy issue with Phalynx.

I don't see any problem with informing new players that Cantr is not a chat room though, especially if there's going to be an OOC to explain things about the game.

And while I won't necessarily be locking people up over it, once I own a business or a town only competant people are going to get promoted to higher levels, just like I do with my chars in the regular game pretty much. (One of my chars who's setting up a real estate business right now is planning to require both a written application and job interview, for instance...) But if somebody wants to spend their life as an ignorant rice farmer in a loincloth that's up to them I guess...

I -so- want a character on the newspawn island, I would make a -great- Cantr tutor ;)

Nah its grammatical facism under a thin veneer of humour!
