I think my cat is going to die and he's only two years old but I can't afford to take him to the vet. He looks like he's in so much pain and I don't know what to do. I can only watch his pain and it's making me cry because I can't do anything about it.

I can't listen to any more sounds of absolute agony coming from my cat's throat.......But I don't want to just throw him outside either. Argh....what to do, what to do?! :( I have to attend a workshop today...what a mood I will be in after listening to a cat in agony for three hours. :(

I bet your cat will be in a worse mood than you. Does it really cost that much to get an animal euthanized?

Could just have crystals. I'm not entirely familiar with that since my cat is female, but it could be something simple although obviously very painful. If it were my pet, I'd be calling a cab or walking the cat to the vet if I had to.

I don't know what cyrstals is, but I doubt it is something so simple. And there isn't a vet for miles and miles here where I am. I might take a cab after my workshop though. I don't have the time to do it before. I just hope he can wait that long. :(

This is agony! :(

Protein crystals in the urine. Cats have a very delicate urinary system. Does it look like he's trying to pee but nothing's coming out? The crystals could be obstructing his bladder (like kidney stones in people). Could have a twisted bowel too. Both are correctable. For the first, you'd need a special diet, and the second, you'd need surgery (not cheap). Euthanization should only run you about $100 bucks tops if you bury him yourself. If you honestly can't pay, I doubt the vet would let you walk out the door with the cat in so much pain, so might eat the cost (but I wouldn't count on that). Also, did you check that he didn't get into any anti-freeze (in radiator and winshield washer fluid). Cats can't resist the taste of it and it chelates the calcium in their blood, which I can't imagine feels very good and is lethal, although I think fairly quickly lethal.

Sorry about your kitty. :(

Thanks for the information.

Ah, well, there have been a few things wrong with him for awhile now. I feel awful because I kept hoping it was something that would correct itself. And you know cats...they don't normally show pain, so he must be in toooooons of pain...:(. He actually has looked like he was trying to pee, with nothing coming out. Maybe that's it after all. However, he has also lost some fur, so I doubt it is crystals. Or maybe there are two things wrong?

I feel so awful...everytime I hear him it makes my heart rush. Why can't I have more money?

Because live isn't fair. :( And it already makes me feel sad hearing you tell it. I can't imagine in how pain you must be yourself hearing and watching it.

It's made me cry several times this morning. I want to cancel the workshop, but I can't, as a professional. God, this sucks! I feel hopeless about it. He seems to be quiet now atm because he is sleeping. I tried to pick him up earlier to pet him a bit, hoping to comfort him. However, he started yowling over and over again and so I set him down. I think that's right about the first time I cried this morning.

So I called my mom to ask her to take me to get him euthanized and I can't quit crying. I feel so awful. I cancelled my workshop.
