I don't think it would matter much if weight affected work efficiency, since the two of my characters who concentrate on carrying as little as possible always strip it down to shield, sword and crowbar + keys. Only if they have to move big amounts of stuff would they be ready to drop those things. Cantr weapons are so light that it's the year's supply of potatoes that has a bigger weight effect than any weapon.
Also if you try to play a character who doesn't care about fighting or is bad at it and relies on other people's protection, if a person like this gets attacked, the first thing people will do is give him or her a shield. Because that's how Cantr works. You can't have auto-defend on people. I bet it would suck with the one hit per day rule if you tried to hit a defenseless (but clearly wealthy) old lady, only to notice that half the town has rushed to her aid in auto-defense.
If Cantr had wearable armor then that could logically affect your work efficiency, but there should be an option whether or not you want to auto-equip something when it's given to you if it's better than your existing armor. Since with shields they work without thinking, you can't choose not to use your best one. But it sounds pretty insane that a person can function properly while carrying two iron shields, three wooden ones and maybe a chitin or bone one on top of the pile! Cantrians are no octopuses, are they?

Why people like these would need an armour? They just have to tia one shield to his back, another to the chest, one for each arms and legs and a little buckler as a hat.
Seko, what I said about auto-balancing its that with a combat system properly made, it wouldan't have to change to a battle game.A bigger balance includes more thinking of risks, more expensive armies. But all that may be too far from our cantr since we are with a strengtened system and may envolve complex things to program, like formations, advantage from certain weapons(what makes diversity in armies) and all that stuff.
I agree we have a lot of weapons, but we don't make them all.Maybe we could make something about that.

I agree with adding a Katana. perhaps when it comes time to introduce armour add samurai armour as well? But yes, I say a katana should be added to the game. And perhaps another variation of a katana, one with a knife hidden in the handle. That one could take longer to make than the basic katana and could do a tiny bit more dammage. Also, I was thinking. you should be able to make a weapon sheath.

Why people like so much katanas?...Damn these ninja movies from the 80'.
how about quantum tecnology based...kidding...
how about a Fighting Staff(anyone said magic?*put the hand on the quantum thing above*) I mean, like the ones the merry mans of Robin Hood and the pleasant mobsters are oftenly portrayed with.
Maybe could exist a version for training, but with a creative name like...training staff!!!
(this is real)
And remmember it can be used not only by angry british pleasantry but by martial fighters around the world.

There are already some swords around. Why don't you read the wiki?

I somehow think there are plenty of swords already:
Bastard sword, broad sword, long sword, short sword, claymore, spatha, gladius.

Unless the mechanics are changed, there is no need for more weapons. Masses do not matter, only materials and tools matter. And maybe the rp value. Here's a draft:
steel broadsword, takes a lot of muscle and little skill, not so hard to make but should take quite a lot of steel because it's heavy
steel sabre, balanced muscle and skill, medium amount of steel, semi-time consuming to make
steel rapier, takes lots of skill and little muscle, light, should be hard to make because the blade needs to be flexible
Bows, deal less damage than swords, take a big ass pile of tools to make but can be made of wood and string. Oh, right, swords also take a lot of tools to make. My bad. But at least swords are made in only two parts.
Crossbow, the über-pwn hi-tech weapon, designed to make the player confused enough not to make it even though it's mostly made out of wood and is thus cheaper than swords... right? Most crossbows in Cantr are from time when you could just throw together some wood and steel.
Also we can have a flail that takes a bit more time to make than swords due to it's complexity but should be a pretty destructive weapon, depending on the wielder's strength and somewhat their fighting skill. Also it can be made with a wooden handle.
Also a mace could be made with a wooden handle.
Oh, in real life we would have weapons that require both skill and strength, but the Cantr system was made so that it's either one or the other. Naturally if you're both weak and a bad aim, you're pretty much screwed unless poisons are invented.
My suggestion would not be to add more weapons but to combine some of the exisiting ones and tweak their stats so that they are more balanced. No one wants a crappy weapon so pretty much the power of the weapon should depend on the resources and time required to make it, then the difference would come from the ratio of skill and strength.
But this is just wishful thinking because there will never be a change. Everybody wants their weapons to be just as powerful as they were. And also that their character would be an expert in wielding them. And that their neighbours would gain no advantage wielding their weapons.
