It seems to have worked, somewhat.

Cantr has been up and locked for a few hours now.
I am shivering, should I go sleep?

It's been locked for a day actually. Go to sleep. *nod nod* I don't expect it'll be up fully today.

Re: When Cantr is down
I think our time-table is pretty much revolving around the speed at which 40-odd players can reply with the information we need to restore their characters, and how quickly Seko can restore the name and skill tables from backup.

Why can't we just act like this is a bug, restore the game and restore those character on a basis of as they respond?

There has been something wrong with the backupping so the only useful backup we have is from January. The ones made after that are useless. That's why we can't have a rollback.

I mean, there's a rule that when there's a bug in Cantr, you act like it doesn't exist and the game goes on. Why can't we just "pretend" that there isn't a bug in Cantr, restore the game, and as those individuals in town are restored we let them continue with the game? I have a feeling Cantrians are pretty good at pretending and can act like players that were killed by the former staff member were never really killed at all.

17 players worth of stuff on the ground in Dory would be my guess.

I don't get what the smiles are for but I'm serious, I don't see how hard it is to tell people not to touch anything on the ground or their account will be locked.

I'm laughin' my ass off at the suggestion, Yugo. The immediate reaction of several characters was to gather up as much as they could carry, and run down the road, giggling manically.
The reaction of many newspawns is to pick up what's lying on the ground.
You're asking the mods to unlock the game, and for them to have to deal with the immense headache of playing watchdog over a bunch of stuff lying on the ground, saying "don't touch this or else", just so you can go back to playing? When waiting a little while longer would get this sorted, where they wouldn't have to do all the unnecessary work?

No what I'm saying is you can go find yourself and let me play the game so I can make sure all of the chars in that town stay dead permanently.
