That's not completely true.

The first map was brought back by my char.
I already know that he wasn't the first one to find it. But he was the first one to bring back news of it.

Maybe people didn't like the name "The promised lands".
It's actually very weird to call it Fu Put anyway as there are more town named differently on it anyway.

My char was on a fairly early (not the first) expedition to the island, and the main location we were sailing to had Fu Put in the name and everybody was talking about that. Also about the name 'promised lands' (I think you were on the same expedition, but I'm not sure), but also Fu Put. And that didn't seem like a forum issue.

That might be correct. But i brought back two documents from my first trip.

The first was a detailed dairy about how i explored the beginning of that island.
And the other was a map.
I called the island 'The promised land' in both documents.

I think the Fu Put name became more common after the next expedition, is it not?

I think it was during the planning for the first expedition.

Though my char never knew about people calling it Fu put.

Ignorance is a bliss isn't it?

Is this the island with all the Wud's and Heuvs places in it? I don't think I've heard anybody mention a name for that island and it has a bunch of towns named differently :) Kind of odd. Wuds sounds like "woods" in some language but why would woods be spelled "wuds" on the english world? hehe I love that island. My favorite char spawned there.

Oh, and hi everybody. I'm new to the forums and have been playing Cantr for a little over a Cantrian year now. It rocks!

Wuds is spelt this way because that is how Jos (the creator) wanted to spell it at the time. Anyways, Cantr was originally an English game but over the years has become a very multi-lingual game. For instance look at how the Polish almost outnumber the English players. Even the Swedish are up there in numbers.

But anyways, Jos was just making up names for the locations. Wuds is not an actual word of any language but it does represent woods (in English). Jos just creates really weird names and likes to change up names from time to time so things are different.

I hope that answers your question. And welcome to Cantr! :D I'm an oldbie so don't pay any mind to me. I'll just be over here in my rocking chair shaking my cane at all you youngsters. Damn newbies.

Probably because nobody "promised" them.

That doesn't make any sense?

It's just a name...

Of course it makes sense. How can you call somewhere the promised lands if nobody promised them.

It's just a name, but a silly one. I don't think everybody wants to be playing another lord of the rings influenced game.

And playing by your own preverances isn't that an ooc thing to do?

Who said I was? One of my characters calls that place by your own made up name. And if anyones doing that, it's you. Trying to make one of your charys famous by promotng the name he made up for a continent on the forums.

Though i think Mozes would be more fitting with the name "The promised land" with him leading his people.

but anyway,
we've strayed offtopic.
