And this thread doesn't qualify as a request, does it?

I think you'd be a little pissed off if you made a thread where you had considered to leave, but then changed your mind at the last second and someone removed your account.

Threads on the forum aren't necessarily considered official requests, though if she had wanted her account deleted she could ask in a PM here on the boards or send a mail to players@cantr.net in which case we'd ask them if they were sure there was not another or better way, and ask if they've considered all options as when characters are deleted they are never brought back. We'd like to make sure players dont make a decision that they'll regret in less than a days time. :) Considering that peoples characters all have some sort of effect on the game as well. :)

Could this be why my request mailed to the PD to delete some of my characters has not been responded to? It has been four days now.

I have not seen your request personally. Perhaps you'd like to send it again., and of course you're welcome to PM me the request here on the forum in a PM. You're also welcome to send the request to Jeslange. :)

Just for the record I would like to say that I appreciate it when a player who has established characters posts their intention to leave the game, and which characters might be deleted. There have been many times when a well-established character is found suddenly dead on the ground ..... and I find it very disconcerting.....so you can imagine how my characters feel.

But should your characters be any less suprised at someone's sudden death if you knew they were going to die, OOC?

Nope, definitely not.

In fact, I'd normally not like to know a character is going to die until afterwards. Makes it easier to RP any emotions at that character's death.

Nick, how many times do I have to ask?

EDIT:Oh wait. Sorry. You have shrunk it. Oops...

I think a character's death should always have an in-game meaning, not just the player quitting. Be that starvation, animal or human attacks - or heart attack, cerebral infarction, suicide (many options), drowning, falling off a cliff, choking on your own tongue/vomit, malfunction of any major inner organ etc... And you blame it on the sleeping sickness?! That sickens me. Besides it's totally lacking imagination. If you're going to click on that button and have characters that have been active to the last day, at least for the important ones you could write a last line or a couple telling them grabbing their chest/head/stomach / complaining about dizziness, vomiting blood... I could make tons of those. Actually when I'm bored I sometimes start thinking about good ways for my characters to die. The following ones however are not on the list.

Mountains: "Hey, first time I see a flower at this height... Lets see if I can.. reach it... Only a little further, hold on, I think I - AAAaaaarrrgh!

Lake/seaside: "Help, my leg is cramping! *Bubble bubble bubble*"

Remember, not everything can be programmed, for example coding swimming might be total waste of resources when we don't have islands near the coast. Not to mention the 10000 ants. Hmm, which reminds me..: ;)

Forest:
"Anthill? What the heck is that?"
"It's one of those things not worth mentioning. It's build by little bugs, you see, those tiny black things. Dare you to sit on it!"
"Sit on it, are you nuts?"
"Well, I guess you ain't interested in this 500g steel I'd give you in case you can manage till the hour change in there."
"Well in that case... AAAAAAaargh, dear Jos they're eating me alive!!! Heeeelp!"
"Hehhehheh..."

My Word, Seko that is harsh! When someone in game dies especially if I knew them, I don't like to think of them suffering before they died. My chars. always imagine them slipping away while dreaming pleasant dreams. :)

Well there can be peaceful endings too. Usually found in literature. For example the wolf Nighteyes dying in Robin Hobb's Fool's Errand. I don't remember the exact quote but the breath just left from him in dreaming. And the classic story about the girl who tried to sell matches.. :'( No one can put a happy-sad death better than that. http://hca.gilead.org.il/li_match.html

Wow, now that's nostalgic. I remember reading The Little Matchgirl at like, 4-5 years old.

That is a shame, yet very beautiful. Especially the way she froze to death (that is a horrible way to die), but felt no pain. Of course she was cold, but once she lit the matches she forgot about her cold and just seen beautiful things.........Yeah, this story was indeed sad, but lovely.

I remember having to listen to the Matchgirl on a casette in elementary school. I knew when it started that I'd cry in the end, and it was somewhat embarrassing to know that. Just trying to make sure no one would notice. Ok I cried a lot in elementary school but never felt easy about it though my best friend told me I'm brave to do that. I just couldn't help it.

Oh... a bit of a wrong category.

Agar wrote:I have a problem with her OOC behavior. This thread is just a cry for attention.

My characters have a problem with her characters, but I'll leave that issue alone.

If a player posts something like this, in effect saying "I quit", but then doesn't would the PD be justified in removing the players characters?

I do aplogise for being insulting, I did cross the line, I am sorry. Lack of cantr makes a man surly.

uh... as far as i've seen with my characters that are in towns she is in, she has not touched her account for a while... in fact, i do believe one has died while i was not in the town..
