Mikki .: I'm putting my account on vacation mode. If you could post that somewhere in the forum, I would appreciate it. I'm not sure when I am coming back. Thanks ahead of time.

I did not know where to post this so this is where it gets put. I have been requested to post this message on the forum for Mikki. She does not check the forum lately so messaging her here won't likely get a response. She will be taking a break from the game, she does not know for how long or when she will return.

Last week on Cantr was great. For realsies.
This week is a bit lacking so far since I'm up to my neck in midterm projects and essays and early morning classes that dictate that mid-afternoon freetime will be spent napping instead of being productive and doing homework or practicing clarinet or playing Cantr, all on top of trying to work out a regular exercise schedule.
I'm not quitting though, don't you all worry.

We all have things from time to time that make us have to cut back a bit. It's understandable.

I've decided I'm quitting. I'm fed up with the horrible roleplayers in this game, how every problem is solved by killing a character rather than talking to them and treating them like a person.[moderated]. This game fails at a society simulator. It is a murder fest, with every town being the same. I'm done. This game lacks creativity, or intelligence. Doug was right. Perma-death, although a very attractive feature of Cantr, is its biggest downfall.

For those of you who will be disappointed with the passing (particularly with my character, Derj Tah, he was the most developed of them), keep in mind I have my reasons, and don't be too upset about it. If you will continue the enjoy Cantr the way it is, I encourage you to stay. But me? I require something better than this.

If I could illustrate why I'm leaving Cantr with one example, It would be to sum it up in one of my characters. This character was an eccentric, who turned the ideas of ownership in Cantr on it's head with his views on the world. He was then put in a cell, since he spawned, where he has gone insane, believing that he is the owner of the room he is in, and that he has servants who feed him. I roleplay all this, and yet, I receive no roleplay back, despite this character being incredibly interesting, because he did things that go against Universal Cantr standards, he was instead ignored, kept alive, but ignored.

Sorry bud - it isn't really because no one wants something different. I play several "different" and "interesting" characters, and I get odd looks and funny giggles...but you, sir, played trolls. No one likes a troll.

Generally there are some things you can't do in Cantr without being killed or locked up, especially if you're a newspawn. After people play for a while, they learn where the limit goes and don't cross it unless they're ready to take the risk of dying. If you get caught of stealing, you should give up and give the stuff back, hoping to get out with your life and try again elsewhere, not accuse your chasers of being the real criminals. If you get chased by someone older than yourself, even in the slight chance you were innocent, you should give the stuff away because people always believe the older characters anyway.

So, what you're saying is that the people who locked him up acted normally, instead of pretending that your character didn't make them uncomfortable and engage with him simply because you think you were putting effort into playing him. All I see in your complaints are evidence that Cantr is still working as a society sim. I don't go talking to raving lunatics. I cross the street. That's a normal society, and most people aren't saints.

I disagree with you three, and so do most people. That is why the player base keeps decreasing. The statistics back me up. You guys just can't see your own close-mindedness.

Correlation does not equal causation. Statistics 101.

Correlation does not necessarily equal causation. But that doesn't mean I'm not right. It just means the statistics don't concretely prove anything. My assessment of the statistics is logical. The evidence of how flawed Cantr remains is all around. It is just being systematically ignored and/or suppressed.

Disrespect and strangeness is common in a real society (even in totalitarian ones). Cantr is run in a manner similar to a church or high school. That is to say....very badly.

My characters were not trolls.

Sure are, and they're met with the same level of disengagement as your character experienced.

No, they are not. I shouldn't have to explain this to an intelligent mind.

For goodness sake, if I had a nickel for every time a player quit because they didn't like the outcome of events.....

Not everyone is going to agree with the way you see things. It doesn't make them less intelligent or even make you right or wrong. And this comment....

can only be seen as an attack and insult directed at another player for having an opinion different to your own.
