This one was magically 'fixed', but not in the way you state it. Dog one moment, sex addict female human the next. Utterly lame.

Ok, here's another one. When you're dealing with a fight in game, and while there's a perfectly safe way for your character to rp in return while the rest are doing so, and you don't say a word and can't be bothered in the least.

I admit I play one of these characters. I do my best not to be too annoying with it. I have actually intended to kill him off several times but the concern shown by the other players made me think they enjoyed him so I kept playing him for their enjoyment.

I hope I find your character, I want more like that.

Depends on how they are played... have have seen a few.. only one is/was well played, consistent and not overly done.

I think people who act like animals contribute something to the game. They shouldn't play that they have the body of an animal, though. Having the mannerisms is enough.

Not everyone is careful about that, though. I've seen a char spawn with cat ears and a tail. Perhaps the guidelines should be clearer?
As for me, I don't really mind the idea, but seen quite a few poorly played, and dropped/transformed at a whim because the players were clearly bored, so I am cynical.

It would be nice if characters could interact (a bit) with animals in the game (animals actually reacting to what characters do to/with them). It would add to the look and feel of the game.
But if a player wants to play a character from another species besides humans, this must be a specific and irrevocable choice before spawning it and the non-human character should have abilities and stats according to the chosen species. Currently Cantr doesn't support this.

The last time I argued that Cantr characters are humanoid and quoted the section of the wiki saying as such, I was told that the wiki has no authority to dictate game rules because it can be edited by anyone. Sadly, that person will be in for a rude surprise if they ever run a foul of any of those rules, but it just goes to show that I was right when I say that ALL the rules need to be published on cantr.net and not only on the wiki.

I'm assuming thinking they are an animal is different than trying to be an animal in appearance and the like.

While I'm on this thread.
Major annoyance: Names I've seen; X, Sk, Me, A, UU, lol at least twice I've seen. What even worse than these is "I dont have a name" and continuing to play for lenghthy times as such.

What confuses me: Why people dont change names when they know they are wanted or at least committed questionable actions. Why commit a crime go to another island and use the same name unless you are looking for fame as a pirate or the like?

I assume people who don't change their name either think that they did nothing wrong or believe that the word hasn't carried that far. For example a certain ex pirate used to go by the name Kay but then returned to his original name because he didn't want to lose his identity. And besides, Kay is generally a girl's name.

I have a character with a bounty on his head due to a nut job leader, but feels he can safely use his name as long as he's not around said nut job's area. If he heads back that way I assume he will use a different name so as not to lose his life.

I have a few chars who've met UU, he's a great guy, and UU is short for something (I forget what) so that, I think, excuses the strangeness. And why is it so bad to not have a name? Our characters spawn with nothing else except a knowledge of the names of every non-human thing, and how to manufacture things. The only strange thing about not having a name is if someone gave them a name and they continued to claim to have none.
As for changing names.. that ought to be an entirely in-game decision. Do real-life wanted criminals change their names often? I actually don't know. I'd be interested in the answer.

Never said anything was wrong with UU just the name annoys me and I should explained better with the no name people. Was referring to the few I saw who refused to accept or develop a name. But I will digress before I ruffle any feathers.

Right, if they don't develop new names over time, then I'd agree that it's strange.

Although, back on topic, I guess, it puzzles me (slightly) that in Cantr our chars are encouraged and expected to have names when they spawn, despite not having any other pre-formed knowledge of themselves. It could be interesting if communities named their newspawns.

I like to let others tell my chars what they look like, for the most part, and then use that as my personal description. How should my char know what s/he looks like? Was s/he looking in a mirror right before spawning?

It's a little weird maybe, but I like to think that the people I've done that with kind of enjoyed it. Maybe only I did, though, and I'm projecting.

Characters that are bubble headed, bouncy, and just plain idiotic.
