UUUGGGHHHH You know...all this Baron and TBR crap is getting really out of hand...TBR was a large group that affected many people.... if what has happened with them is STILL affecting people and it shouldn't be discussed... The Barons..also a large group that affected many....and it should recievce the same consideration!! the wake of what has happened to each...must be treated equally...... events of these actions are still being discovered in game and some of them are life changing events...I think this Baron convo should be stopped... and the events not discussed...otherwise...I believe the biased 'hush hush' about the TBR should be removed....

The problem is its been many more then 4 days since alot of events involving TBR. We still cant talk about that so, dont talk about the barons either.

I didnt know they were dead until I read this thread BEFORE the spoilers were put in.

Have a problem with talking about TBR? But none with talking about the Barons? Barons still affect people IC and shouldnt be talked about for awhile. Talk about them when those of us that want to talk about tbr can talk about tbr.

We're really gonna have to dig about to find something that won't impact the game.

Anyone want to remember the tale about that bandit in Blojt back in the 200s or so?

How about Mayor Thistlethwaite from Quillanoi?

Purple Tortoise?

Anyone know anything about the old fighting and warmongering in Krif? Maynard etc?

Lad vs. Alenz? I never really did know what was going on with that.

>.< I remember all of those.

Al Abhol ( something like that) in blojt. Attacked people until he made a truce with Wu Tang and stopped, then Wu Tang killed him.

Maynard and Craktar in Krif. I used to be a top solider under Maynard. Then I started the Smoke Jaguars after they went into hiding.

All I will comment on for now.

I deliberately choose things I knew little about.

Church of Jos the Creator

Quillanoi/Trans-National Corporation

Early Doryiskom

Early Blaman

are things I could talk about from experience, there's more, but my memory fails me

I hope the following doesn't spoil anything for anyone:

It was the year 601 and Piers Anthony had charged on of my characters with the task of gathering rubber from a nearby Xiria Forest (as we have done many times before). Piers also asked I take a new spawn named Syril, teach him the ropes, and have him help with the rubber collection. When we arrived in Xiria Forest north, a situation occured that changed his life forever.

The tandem bike pulled into the rubber forest early in the day on 602. There was one person in the region collecting a bit of wood and there were 3 buildings, a prison, a training camp, and a cabin... but the alarming thing was the note on the ground which read something like this,

"You have no entered the property of the Lad Empire. No one who steps foot on this land is allowed to leave. If you do leave, you will be killed. You will stay and be put to work as out slaves." (thats not a quote, but just the jist from memory).

After a few days of rubber collection, my character called out to his young ward Syril, "The note on the ground says that no one is allowed to
ever leave, I dont want to be here a second longer than we have to. I have 700 grams of rubber, I want to leave when I get 1000. That should be in 3 days. Beready. It looks as if the people that occupy this area are not here right now."

Syril was not even collecting rubber, but collecting wood. He didn't have a shield because it seems he didn't work on the project set up for him on the bike right over. And then it happened....

"Rubber is an restricted resource here. I guess you did not read the note and for that you were attacked. That will be your only warning.", he says as he shoots us both with a crossbow. My iron shield deflected the shot easily, but Syril was half dead.

The Lad Man then goes into a building and two men come outside, one named Lord Veigh and another named Citizen Wauki, I know that because their names were spoken aloud. The identities of the other two to this day are not known. But I am assuming the one was Sester.

I call out, "My apologies, I asked the people about the notes and no one
responded. I assumed the people that placed them here had left or died. I will leave as soon as my partner gets into the bike"

I scream to Syril.: "Syril, get into the bike... we are going to leave ASAP"

The Lad Man called out, "Lord Veigh, or Citizen Wauki, help me or my brother."

603-1: You see Syril. being dragged from the central area of Xiria Forest (north) to Alexian Empire Northern Xiria Forest Outpost.

My character rode off and scurried back to Alenz Hills. Piers said he would send help, but kept putting it off. My character finally left, unwilling to wait any longer. not able to live with himself for having the man put under his protection dragged off into slavery or death.

By the time Roland returned to Xiria (many years later), there was no sign of Lad occupation or Syril, just dead bodies. He heard through the grape vine that DoUrden didn't like the rubber restriction so they came and took out the small group of Lad Mad men.

So much Cantrian history. I'm still a relatively youngin around these parts and have yet to learn about all of these ingame ...

:!: It makes me feel like starting to create a novel about Cantrian history ... Probably won't be the first one to try and I'll probably give up ingame in a year or so.

Does the Lad Empire even exist anymore? I've seen a Lad Empire bike in Quillanoi. If the Empire is gone I can't see how it would be a spoiler for anyone. The only way you'd find out in game is by sifting through trash notes, which is often interesting

Not that anyone cares abotu my thoughts, but here is my take on this Hush up vs Talk About events.

I have a character involved in the Baron War and a character involved in the TBR war. I heard some news in the forum before I heard it IC & I have heard news IC before seeing it on the forum. Didn't mattter to me, its all fun. Discussing what has happened and reading about what has happened is fun. That is what these boards are for. If you don't want to hear about what happened 4 days ago, don't read it. If you think one side of a war is going to get an advantage because they know things they shouldn't know, well tha is possible...

but then you must be thinking that there is a way to be winning this story telling game. Maybe my goal is to die gloriously in battle and losing the war isn't losing. But I am straying off topic.

We need to walk the fine line between enjoying boasting about our accomplishments, sharing great RP stories, and keeping info out of players heads who don't wanna hear about it.

There are so many ways to "cheat" in this game. Those that are going to use OOC knowlegde are going to use it, but lets not restrict what I can hear beacuse others haven't the ability to handle such knowledge.

My dilemma is always between OOC influence on the game and enjoying the stories.

I don't want to have OOC influences on the game, although it's inevitable I don't think it should be made easy.

The arguement on the chat was that if it takes months to build up to something in game, I wouldn't want idle chatter to spoil it with OOC commentary influence IG actions.

The flip side is I like to learn more about the Cantr world as a whole and what's happening where i'm not.

Well put, Bowser.

The activities surrounding TBR will have ripples affecting people probably forever.

And there may be individuals who continue to fight for who knows how long.

When was the Kirrinn "massacre"? A long time ago. More than 40 days but still we can't discuss it.

I think the suggestion to create a new area on the forums for talking about in game events is a good one (and also revealing who plays who which I personally don't want to know). It can be marked as a spoilers area and no one could complain about receiving unwanted knowledge if they deliberately go there.

See the mod thread for this suggestion.

This way all events and groups can be treated equally no matter how far ranging their activities.
