Lord of the Rings, scary?! Don't make me laugh. They are just about as scary as watching Land Before Time.

But they're not only god movies. Lord of the Rings is some of the greatest literature ever written.

Since you're 13, maybe you should pick up the Hobbit. It is the prequel to the Lord of the Rings and it is a children's book or was meant to be when it was written.

Maybe you will fall in love with Middle-Earth just as countless millions of people spanning over 60 years.

My little brother was 11 when he read all of the lord of the rings books. They are some awesome books, although they can get boring. The movies are awesome in a different way than the books! They are all awesome and I heartily recommend reading the books or seeing the movies. There are only like 2 scary parts in the movies anyway. Trust me, you will love them....i think.

Americans don't know Dr. Who from a small musty island. oh wait, that'd be Britain.

A jest, merely, good sirs and madams.

I heartily agree with Rich, though...

LOTR is probably my all time favorite book.

LOTR also rocks! Aragon and that pretty female elf are the sexiest characters there Frodo is a bit annoying however.

Listen--I have a very high reading level for my age--I could tackle the Lord of the Rings series if I wanted to. I mean hey, I've read every book in the Sue Grafton series. =)

And I WAS scared of the Land Before Time series. Honest to God.

And I was (and still am) terrified of the Brave Little Toaster series, too. It's just creepy--vaccums are not meant to be villans.

Did I mention I'm afraid of the dark too?

Now, don't think I'm one of those little kid types--I am very mature for my age. I just get scared easily, I guess. LMAO

When that vacuum blew up and went crazy I cried myself silly (when I was young and the first time I saw it) and I was petrified! Movies still make me cry today. I can't watch tear jerkers and even the Star Wars make me cry (happy cry).

The Brave Little Toaster sounds cute.
What really freacked me out when i was young was Watership Down. The whole fields of blood, dead rabbits, and ghost rabbits really got to me

Wow, emotional people.

Maybe you shouldn't read or watch LOTR. I mean I don't think you would be able to take how Frodo literally gets torn apart, slowly, by the One Ring. I heard "Return of the King" will be very graphic as far as how Frodo slowly gets worse and worse. The books made it sad but the movies can show it more graphically and will probably have a greater impact.

Plus, the whole Gollum story is sad as well.

Well you could read the book but it doesn't mean the movie will do the same.

As to whether Frodo dies or not, I'm not going to say as it is a mjor point of the whole story depending on whether or not they change it but from what I have heard from rumors is that they haven't.
