I was only there in Olip Forest once, and my char wanted to stay but..the people she was in the boat with didn't like it. Eventually she saw reason and left too, what is with the tag there :?:

Forget the damned iron. And forget 90% of the possible items you can make because they cost iron, and there is no iron. Well, none of my characters have ever seen iron. I'll just stick with bone needles, cottages, hunting bows, and... wait, that's all.

I think the key thing is that Iron isn't that difficult to get if you are a settled, familiar person. That isn't really trade so much as sharing through the extremely communal societies that tend to form. If you just walk in (as a stranger) and say 'I have limestone and I want to trade for iron', a lot of people don't respond. Even if they need the limestone.

Because iron and more importantly steel represent power. People do not want to give away power so easily, especially when it could be used against them.

Strange. My character just gave away 500 grams of his Iron, scot free. Which, in frank, is more than 80% of his entire remaining Iron. Not all people are greedy and need Iron or Steel to seem "In Power". They just need to be well known and liked by everyone and the power of persuasion will be the only "power" they need.

This, of course, isn't true everywhere.

Too much hemp, *Sigh* I don't like how the Cigar thing has spread to Karnon Fields. It annoys me *sigh*. Apparently half of Tribe Blackrock smokes. They are going to kill themselves ;).
