From what they said on the news the speech they make before the execution basically says that it was nothing more then payback for the violations in prisoner treatment that the US military is in hot water for right now.
But that's just an excuse, that reporter David Pearl who was killed when the war in Iraq started was killed in the same way, if they hadn't had the prison excuse to use they'd just come up with something else, I don't think they even bothered with a reason for killing Pearl.

@ Siphersh:
Please pardon us for being rather upset by seeing a man screaming, "Oh my God!" and sobbing like a child until his words were choked by his blood, which was spraying across the room, until his legs stopped twitching and the only thing you could hear was the sound of the bones of his neck being sawed through.
Sorry if we are choosing to take a moment to discuss the misfortune of an innocent man who accidentally got caught up in politics in just about the worst way imaginable, rather than bypassing human reaction and jumping right into the underlying politics.

Jeslange, Come on... My words were not anything against any of you.
The occupation is wrong, in my opinion. Showing off videos of this kind is wrong according to our value system. The sexual humiliation is _worse_ according to _their_ value system, and _less wrong_ according to ours. Not allowing to wear chador in school as a teacher is correct policy according to us, and an outrageous humiliation against the whole arab world according to them. And they didn't come here. We went there. I am upset by this judment over _them_ according to _our_ values, for things that they do in response of what we do _there_.
This global culturocide is the greatest sin imaginable against the whole humankind according to _my_ value system: culture is what makes us different from other animals.
They make the videos not because they are so cruel, but because they _know_ that it may work, according to their knowledge of our society. It's more than upsetting to see such videos. I've seen something similar before, and have regreted it: I can't bear the sight of such things. But in this time of brutal occupation, I really don't understand how it's not crystal clear what the "reason" is.

Bottom line is that Berg was a non military figure, he was there rebuilding their shithole country when they killed him. And the reason is because they wanted to.
It seems to be a point of ignorance for alot of people who seem to think this started with the current war. Well, it didn't, and Berg isn't the first American to be multilated by Islam extremists, and Pearl wasnt' the first, and the guys from the Blackhawks a few years back whose bodies were dragged through the streets of Somolia weren't the first. And none of them had real reasons other then hate for soemthing they don't understand.
The "reason" isn't crystal clear, and never will be, because there isn't any single legitamate cause. Besides, there is zero reason to kill a noncombatant other then for philisophical reasons, other then not having the balls to go after someone who'll shoot back unless they have'em outnumbered 10 to 1.
The "reasons" or what I call "excuses" go all the way back to the Crusades when armies from Europe marched on the middle east. So you could say Europe started it, so why is the US the target now? Simply because we're the biggest and brightest and when it's decided that something needs to be done the US are the ones leading the charge...no other reason then that. We are but the proxy for all of western civilization for the "Jihad" that is being waged.

Not to be a stickler, As I have friends who are overseas fighting a war I feel is un-necessary.. I have lost friends and family there... So please do not take this the wrong way... Maybe this topic should be moved to the Non Cantr related discussion...

I have to agree with you. Although I am morally against the war and I find most Americans' knowledge of the Middle Eastern conlfict terribly inept. Can we please get back to the topic at hand.

Most embarrassing moment for me was when a thief struck...
Everyone took off after him on the path, after a while someone came back wounded. Can everyone go and help? So I grabbed a bow and took the path to find the theif... "Point out the thief to me" I valiantly yelled as I raised the bow, took aim, then shot myself...
Don't ask!
