There are some lakes one could in theory swim across. Also from one port to another seems viable. Or simply from a boat back to land or vice versa.

That would actually create more roleplay options... being captured, and you jump off the ship and swim to the shore in an attempt at freedom

Swimming thogh seems to me a task like playing an intsrument. Only it would give physical benifits
