A hard lesson to learn for a new player and his first toon.

One of the disadvantages about Cantr when you're a new player is that there is so much chance involved in what your starting experience turns out to be. Back when I first started playing one of my very first characters spawned in a pretty active place and predictably picked up stuff she was not supposed to pick up. In addition... because she was who she was... she argued with the town leader who confronted her on it. Luckily, that town leader handled the situation with tolerance and a sense of humor, and that particular character lived a very long life and actually ended up becoming an officer in the military of that town and region. If she had spawned by chance in another place, she would have easily met the fate of your first character.

I'm glad it turned out better for yours. Is a loin cloth an expensive or rare item or something? It seemed odd that I would be working for the town and instead of asking me to drop the loin cloth that guy would just lie about me and try to murder me...and even so after I dropped it.

Honestly, it sounds like your character spawned in a town full of murderous or intolerant jerks.

Many towns have very rigid or repressive laws, which include not being able to gather resources without permission and not picking up items from the ground. Many of these towns take very extreme measures against violators of these laws. Unfortunately, new players don't often know to read the laws carefully or ask questions when they first arrive in a new place.

As a player I tend to respond to newspawns as if they are played by brand new players unless I see evidence otherwise. Because a little bit of tolerance and guidance can go a long way.

In my experience, a lot of places with even strict rules are still usually going to give people another chance if they return whatever it was (especially something so numerously pathetic as a loin cloth) and/or apologize, rather than lie to get the person killed later in another place (not saying they might not require some labor or jail time). It really is unfortunate that happened for your first character. Good luck with all your others!

Vanessa Summers 2994 3528 English - Spawned in Klojt, she was a criminal at first and went to Akypor where she attempted to commit more crimes. She eventually reformed, and spent a lot of time making sure people were fed. Her last days were spent at sea starving to death.

Ursula Green 2994 3374 English - Spawned on Aki island, I can't remember much about her, but she killed herself.

Joseph Clarke 2994 3062 English

Helena Shakespeare 2994 3590 English - Spawned in Naron, but sailed to the Haven Islands with two friends, where one eventually got killed. Helena eventually killed herself.

Ambrose Jones 2994 3636 English - I think he spawned somewhere in Kwaki, and his early life was uneventful. He travelled to Quillanoi Forest and tried to steal a ferry on the lake, but he was caught. Had a long and happy relationship with another man there, until he went crazy and began hitting people before fleeing down the road. He was killed in jail for not dropping his weapons.

Alex Lewis 2995 3722 English - Spawned in Karnon Fields and became a Guardian. Got involved with the group of Guardians that fled after the return of the Blackrocks, and they ended up in Keldorn. Fiona Dracos was hit by Alex in an attempt to drag her onto the ship, but another character hit her and she died. They fled and tried to stay inside the cabin in the galleon for as long as they could, and they had supplies which would have lasted years, but someone walked out and the Blackrocks managed to force them to surrender. Alex then spent the next eleven years as a prisoner in Blackrock Forest, before being killed by the Rau for arguing with a friend of Fiona, although he didn't realise who she was until he was in jail awaiting execution.

Joseph Silvermoon 3305 3346 English - Spawned in a forest, I think on Aki island, where there was a man and a woman. Helped them for a while, but the woman got killed by animals, and later on so did Joseph.

Vanessa sounds familiar to me, probably because Snick used to live in Klojt.
One of my characters found some notes written about Ursula and something about the way she'd been taken as a slave. I don't remember the exact dates, though.
You'd think I would've remembered Helena, but I don't.

Voltenion 1966 2378 English (Doryiskom, first character. Badly played but I had a lot of fun. Was a guard and fell in love with a very well played mute girl)

Cartman Briezer 1975 2330 English (He stayed in some forest because I was so attracted to this forest loving character there was in the doryiskom island. I don't remember her name (something with "D" I believe) or who played her but damn that was some fine RP and it really taught me a lot about Cantr. And how to make the small things fun.

Selyt of Reniov 1975 2541 English (Was born in some Reniov Forest in the middle of a massive confusion. The group of people there were all arrested and the other group who arrested them just left him there with lots of items and nothing to do. He just wandered around Cantr island and I got to see just how much deserted it was)

John Bulkert 1977 2541 English (Blaman forest, I had a lot of fun with this character and I was surrounded by great RP)

Dino (Dionysus) - was born in the English language by mistake and I decided to make him the village idiot (the easiest and poor solution, but honest). Fulfilled his role very well and was terrified of McGregors - which had heard (and recounted what he heard, mixing facts with their naive and imaginative interpretation). Until one day the village was deserted and Dino inherited all keys, all movable and immovable property, all weapons, all accumulated resources, all treasures. Not knowing what to do with everything, gave everything to an anonymous passerby. He filled a boat with food and left without direction. He took with him only one copy of each document found in the rich library of the city, because he judged it important to conserve. He traveled to many places and, when he found an interesting place to live, was stolen by pirates: the poor boy went into a house and, without realizing it, was locked up in that trap. He had left 2 (two!!) crowbar in his boat and did not carry any with him (what to expect from an idiot?). Fortunately the Pirates released him and he moved on, disconsolate to have lost all the food accumulated in the boat, now without locks. He died sad and alone without understanding the world.
