I found a memorial stone landmark of one of my chars I played in my 2005-2006 sejour the other day. I never knew she made that kind of impact. :)

Some of my chars have made landmarks for people who died who would likely also be surprised they made that kind of impact on them.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

If I remember correctly what my character was told, he stole some stuff from the place he was killed at. While his Noniwrok maps are great (though not ground breaking), I should point out that people that try using his world map in any other direction other than the ones he took tend to get lost when heading between islands. I think it says somewhere in the world atlas that it's not to scale, but it's not a prominent announcement ;) Also, he was one of those irritating cartographers that put his maps oriented north.

All in all, my personal assessment is that Gallagher is truly the first person to (indirectly) link the two English zones, but any other contributions are really blown out of proportion.

Thanks for that.

I can't believe he stole! If he played it right, and wasn't a dick, I'm sure people would bend over backwards for him!

"Oh, I'm a poor map-maker and I need donations to continue my cause! I'd like to make another revisement of these maps as they may be wrong but I've run out of funding and it takes too long with my current resources.."

Something as simple as that.. heh. What a shame.

Any up and coming map-makers out there? Perhaps we could start a new thread rather than going much off topic..

He didn't steal. Whoever the guy was who killed him (I forgot but I know the player was the same guy who played Nick Blackrock), he killed Carl and some other guy on a whim as soon as Carl got off his boat.

That's not to say Carl was an angel. He did murder someone in his early life in Kwor, but nobody batted an eyelid. He had an argument with some professor and took the professors understudy out to sea and killed him.

+ yes the map is out of scale. I couldn't work out distance from what I had to work with. I.e no speed guage and a location full of blue pixels, this was long before the sextant. Not that Carl could have afforded one. The most expensive thing he had when he died was an Iron Shield. But the directions are right and he did go to every island on his map.

Also in contradiction to your assessment I found people weren't as in awe as you think when they met a renowned mapmaker. They might say "your maps look good" once in a while but as for 'bending over backwards,' no chance.

1. A thief (so they called her) Vanessa Summer that once lived in Klojt, where is she now?

2. Bella who spawned in Scarab Haunt, anyone know?

3. Eighty sucking years old lady in Akypor Forest North who is sleeping all the time, who the hell are you?

Thanx.

Kru Dreardon. I loved his image.
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

Responded via PM....which you saw already.

I'm just curious, but whatever happened to Keravnos?
Not that I particularly like the character, but considering some things I've heard in-game not too long ago, I wonder now.

He starved to death, learned this from the player a few weeks ago.

The player's still around, then?
Thanks for the information.
