When you know if you keep interacting with a character, your character is going to be the one to end up in trouble one way or another, but you can't stop it because it's your characters actions, not yours. Or you feel like the other characters player is stringing you along to your own destruction quite consciously. I mean it's not like we can warn each other of things, but when you just feel like something bad is going to happen, it's rather disconcerting and leaves you as the player with mixed feelings about the whole thing.

Ohhhhh.... I have this happen so much, where my characters are doing things I know are bad ideas and I can't dissuade them from it without breaking character.

Sometimes I find it annoying, but other times I think it's rather exciting.

Ah, like in fiction where the protagonist does some stupid Gryffindor thing because you don't get a plot out of using common sense and thinking before you rush into danger, and you're shouting at the screen/book 'stop being stupid, think this through, there is an easy/sensible way to do this' but obviously they wont. I have a character like that, she has plenty of scars to show for it :/

Pretty much. My biggest fear is that it destroys the character, she has already been through so much. I'm wondering if I should come up with some way to pull her out of it in an in character fashion, but a big part of me wants it to work out somehow without having to abandon ship.

These perpetual "sure, just give me a moment" responses to deal with everything without actually dealing with the request. If you're bored with a character's tasks, give them to someone else. Yawn.

I don't think boredom is always the culprit here. I found, especially earlier on, with my responsible characters, people'd get annoyed if I didn't say SOMETHING to them as soon as I could, so if someone wants a big trade and I'm checking Cantr on my coffee break at work, and I say ANYTHING, the requester will often get disgruntled about 'being blatantly ignored', but I really don't have time or screen space to work out a complicated trade on my tablet in ten minutes of free time, so I say 'sure, just give me a moment to add things up' or whatever.
Which is fine.

But then I'd forget to actually do it. Not boredom, just disorganization.

Now, I write things in notes, or in text files. My characters ought to have more memory available to them than the little bit I have to spare, split evenly among everyone I play.

(Often while checking with limited time or screen resources, I'll let a responsible character sleep if he's got a responsibility pending, but sometimes I want to work on the next project in a different room, or something, so it's hard to avoid being caught awake)

The complaint isn't about putting off requests, it is about using that excuse to be done with the request entirely. In other words it's the Cantr equivalent of "We'll be in touch."

Well, okay, but I'm just thinking maybe, like in my case, it's actually caused by the player's forgetfulness.

That...feeling when you just know this character is owned by the same player because of the "personality quirks" they all share. No matter what you do...all of their characters annoy you.Just...every single one of them.

*hopes this isn't me*

None of my characters have deliberate quirks in common but I can't be sure nothing's slipped through from me :( All of these kinds of posts worry me.

When people assume that your character is a certain way, and then don't let them be more than that.

-or-

When people insist on whispering, especially when certain aspects of the situation should not, or could not be hidden in usual circumstances.
Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
