That would be a horrible abuse of all that is good and pure in cantr!
Ok, that was a bit overdrabatic, but giving children some sort ov inviobility would bring cantr closer to the things I'm glad it isn't: games with 'moral laws' build in and the typical mmorpg that answers the question "how to keep all the level-1 noobs from dying?" by making it impossible for anything powerful to attack them.

In primitive societies about half of the children die young. It would be more reasonable having babies die of mysterious reasons than those twenty-year-olds just turning silent and slowly starving away.
And being born from a mother would mean you couldn't end up all alone. It's damn annoying to be spawned in a middle of the uninhabited mountains or swamp, accompanied only by a sleeper or a couple of them.
Edit: Plus, children weight less and are smaller, if they die, they are easier to bury. And if they get too annoying, you can pick them up and place them in your "inventory"!
People who don't want to have kids, well, they just don't click the mating button. I think there could be a chance to select the age of the character. Well, if there was a lot of couples expecting babies, then spawning wouldn't be available, but if no one was "pregnant" then there would be spawning.
Second edit: And most newbies don't talk so much, so there wouldn't be a problem with speaking miracle baby Bobs...

I think childrens' murders will be more likely avenged because parents who have children normally care for their children. Children are more likely to have people caring or worrying about them instead of silent strangers in their twenties who die at random. Adults usually do more to deserve death anyway, children seem so innocent and young, they do wrong things sometimes, but thats because they're learning. Everyone was a child once, so many might be able to understand their problem.
Even if a parent doesn't like his/her child(ren), if they beat the kid to death, at least someone present would be outraged.
